"Let's go to the doctor now Samantha," say my brother.
"I told you I'm fine, it was just a dizzy spell okay!" I say.
"Right! Dizziness and nausea all month long?" he asks.
"It's just a virus, it will pass soon," I lay down on my bed and pulled the blanket over me.
"No excuses Sam, I'll give you four minutes to get up and go downstairs," he pulls back the blanket and slams the door.
"I screamed and pulled the blanket back up, closed my eyes and tried to sleep some more.
Could I sleep? Of course I could... NO! And all of this is because of the gay man, aka my brother. I did not sleep, but only got up at 2:00 P.M., and decided to take a shower before going downstairs. I stopped in front of the mirror when I was only in my underwear and stared at my own reflection there and I looked really hot. My breasts were a little bigger than before, my hips were slightly 'stretched', my belly was more prominent? A skinny hot one, obviously. After about 15 minutes in the shower, I tried to put on my favorite shorts, but they wouldn't fit at all. I huffed and finally opted for a loose dress and a pair of low tops. I went straight to the kitchen, I was starving and dying for some chocolate cake.
"Good afternoon Samantha," said Louise.
"Good Lou! So... you know I love you, right?"
"I know? What do you want, young lady?"
“Well, I can't wait to eat that chocolate cake that only you can make," I said slyly, and she laughed.
"I'm sorry to inform you, but we don't have any today," she said.
"Gee Lou, I thought you liked me..." I pouted.
"Hm, I have something better than chocolate cake! " she said, and I smiled excitedly.
"What? Just say it," I say eagerly and she goes to the fridge.
"Strawberry mousse, your favorite," she approached me with the bowl and I made a disgusted face, feeling my stomach clench. Looking at that mouse made me feel very unpleasantly sick.
"Sam? What's wrong? You're not feeling well, is that it?" Louise said and walked over to me, placing the bowl very close to me, and that smell made my stomach churn again and I put my hand to my mouth, already tasting something bad.
"Honey, you look pale." I didn't let her finish and ran to the bathroom in the hallway, opened the door, and knelt on the floor, putting everything out. Just when I thought it was over, I feel that disgusting thing going up my throat and I put it all out again. I flush the toilet and breathe a little heavily, feeling slightly dizzy, damn it. I hate being sick.
"Oh no Sam! I'll get the car and wait for you outside," Lou says with a confused look on his face.
"What for?" I asked in a weak voice.
"I'm taking you to the hospital, whether you like it or not, young lady," she said seriously.
"I'm not going," I said quietly.
"I have some questions to ask..." she said, taking a deep breath and left, leaving me confused.
What doubts? Was Lou going crazy?
I stood up quickly and felt everything spinning... I took a few deep breaths until I was back to normal and went to my room to get my documents, the only way would be for me to go to the hospital and only then Sean and Louise would leave me alone, noticing that I don't have anything serious, that all this is just a virus. A virus of a month and some weeks' said my subconscious idiot. That's normal, I've been sick other times so there's nothing to worry about, they're just putting drama into everything.
"Come on," Louise said seriously, and I nodded.
"Let 's go."
[...]
I tapped my feet frantically while waiting for the damn tests to come back. Louise was acting strange, every now and then she would shake her head and stare at me in such a way that I couldn't stand it any longer. I'm sure it's nothing, just a simple virus like the other times, only this time it was a little stronger.
Two hours had passed and nothing, all I wanted was to go home, go up to my room, lie on my bed and take a good nap and nothing more, but the damn doctor was not cooperating with me at all.
"Samantha Elena Pierce?" I hear my name announced and I get up quickly, followed by Louise.
"That's my name," I shout loudly and the nurse laughs.
"Dr. Patrick has the test results and is calling," she says and I roll my eyes.
"Finally, I thought I'd have to change doctors." I said jokingly.
"Don't tell him, the doctor is very fond of you," she says.
"Of course I won't... Anyway, shall we go?
"Of course, please come with me. " I'll wait for you here, Sam.
"I'll wait for you here, Sam," Louise says, and I wave my hand in agreement.
I follow her down a long white corridor and get into the elevator to the third floor. And in a matter of minutes we are standing in front of Dr. Patrick's office, the nurse knocks on the door and we hear a low ‘come in’ and then Andy opens the door.
"Doctor, here she is," she says smiling and he nods.
"Thank you Andy, you can leave now and you young lady, sit here," he says smiling, but there was something in that smile, something worrying? I don't know…
"Hello Patrick, how are you?" I asks.
"Well, I want you to tell me this? How are you feeling?" he asked seriously.
"Yeah, I'm fine as far as I can be. But tell me, it's just a virus, right? Louise and Sean didn't need to make such a fuss," I said and took one of his pencils to scribble on some paper.
