chapter 10 : Temptation Unveiled

In the evening Lukas demonstrated his unwavering devotion as he had always done, he took her to an unpopular restaurant located at the center of the city.

Candlelight burned lazily, casting a gold on the polished dark wood, at the background, a jazz trio played low from the corner, at the far end, a table fit for just two people is vacant

“Let us go there” Lukas said, pointing at the far end

It was a private table, sitting by the window, so they could watch cabs zip past and the city pulsed with life.

“You are extremely beautiful” Lukas murmured, while the waiter fill their glasses with drinks,

He kept a steady gaze on her face, lowering his head at intervals as though she was the only thing that existed. Lynda lowered her head, allowing the gentle light dance across her bare shoulders, “you always said this” she said almost teasing.

“Yes, because it is always true”, he responded,

Reaching out he took her by the hand, and gently he rubbed his palm against her skin, there is something in him, a softness that always manage to undo her.

Later when they got home his kisses deepened, starting out soft and tender before becoming fierce, almost desperate. He effortlessly lifted her to the bedroom, reverently and wildly his touched landed on her like a hurricane, within a short time their laughter faded, taken over by breathless whispers as they tangle on the sheets.

Lukas loved her in such a way that nothing can be exchanged for the love not even wealth or fame,

For a while she allow herself believe that his love is enough, but temptations does not come showing off rather it crapes in like a gentle wind and decorates itself in attractive attires

some weeks later Lucas company organized a party in a hotel at the hearth of the city, the lights from the chandeliers made the marble lobby to sparkle in glory, women in expensive wears floated the party, waiters moved around with silver trays, sharing champagnes, its bubbles catching the light like gold

Lukas entered the hall with Lynda in his arms, dressed in a cooperate attire that showcased her body linings, her earrings reflecting on the lights with flashes of gold with each turn of the head. The noise in the hall halted as they entered, Lynda could feel the eyes following her, weighing and perhaps admiring her, her heart raced faster

Lukas muttered in a low tone, “you outshined everyone in this hall, she grinned at him but within her she was battling with a strange distraction prompting into her mind. The speeches was soon ended, it is dance time, Lukas gently led her to the dance floor, making her turn around him as they dance, but after a while, he excused her to talk with a colleague, leaving her to stand alone in the midst of shining strangers.

It was an opportunity for him to appear, almost from nowhere, holding his champagne in his hands, there is this uniqueness about his presence, very gentle but commanding, tall, sharply dressed, he moved through the crowd like he belonged to anywhere he wants, he run his eyes down her starting from the head to her toes, not in a crude way, but with a look that is both inviting and dangerous.

“You are Lynda” he inquired, with a tone so angelic like that of a heavenly being, “I have always hard about the beauty of Lukas wife and today confirms that it was never an exaggeration

Lynda’s lips parted for a smile, “and you who are you” she asked curiously, face glued at the ground

I am Marcus Bell, he replied, giving out his hands, a business tycoon and a friend of Luka’s boss, he confidently checked her hands, as he gave out an easy and intense smile. He looked at her like a task that must be accomplished, unlike Lukas, whose looks where more of adoration and worship,

It was a polite conversation at the beginning, they talked about the party, travels, and art. but in her mind something different were unfolding. For Lynda it was magnetic, he was not just a man he was the way to everything she had sought to touch.

As Lukas returned he shook hands with him, complementing him for his choice of a woman and Lukas felt elevated and smiled as he received his compliments,

The dance is over and all the guest are back to their seats Lynda sat closely at the left side of Lukas, adjacent to Marcus table, when at interval their eyes met, he gave Lynda an unreadable glance, somehow an invitation and also a promise and it continued throughout the time of the party between them, without Lucas noticing it.

Back in their apartment, it was already night, Lukas drew her closer as if nothing can come between them, kissing her with a tender care and love, he lifted her on the kitchen cabinet and whispered to her “ you are exceptional this night” you made my day

Lynda curled herself around him like a twisted pair rope, mouths meeting in a wild urgency, the passion was electrifying, and Lukas led her into the bed room, their laughter swallowed by the hunger that followed. He made love to her with the same unfailing devotion, eyes never leaving hers as he whispered, “you are mine always”

Even though Lynda responded with her body , her mind was far away from whatever her body was doing that night, she could not easily forget the memories of Marcus and all the good things that he had flattered her with, his astonishing looks, his social value and exposure, as the light dimmed Lukas slept off soundly,

All through the night she was awake, she was staring up at the ceiling, her skin still tangled from Lukas touch, yet her thoughts would not stay still, “it is not a betrayal, at least , not yet, not in the body, but in the spirit?” she had to admit it. She was already beginning to slip into temptation’s gentle glow
