chapter 6 : The wedding and Departure

It was a clear Saturday morning, the atmosphere was very crispy, and celebration seems the hover around the environment, the church bell ranged out from the towers of a nearby church floating above the commotion of guests rushing up to the grand wooden doors. A red carpet was rolled out, down the stone steps, and a pattern of autumn leaves scattered across it, while photographers move quickly about, at every angle so as to capture the spectacle, for Lynda, this was not a mere wedding, it was the crowning moment of the life she had envisioned since her teenage age. Gazing through boutique windows and vowing to herself that one day, she will stand as one of the glisters inside.

Everything was glowing, white roses spread everywhere inside the sanctuary, in the glassy crystal holders were tall candles flickering. Relatives, colleagues and neighbors filled up the pews tightly, their voices ascending and descending like a swing. In the background the soft organ was humming , while the ushers direct people to their seats.

The bridal train were dressed in emerald gowns, talking nervously and resetting their bouquets.

Lukas stood near the alter, balancing his weight from foot to foot, as if he shoes were suddenly oversized. His monkey suite was neatly fitted over his shoulders,

The murmur in the church hushed as the door opens, everyone stood up, Lynda loosely wrapped in an ivory lace gown that shinned under the colored glass windows, her veil drifting behind like a mist, tightly holding her lilies, she seem so composed, walking through her court she looks more queenly than the bridal train.her father, tall and proud in his gray suite, walked her slowly forward.he tried to smile, but his countenances shows some signs of unease, a feeling that his daughter was stepping not only toward a man, but into a future that neither him nor her mother could really understand.

Lukas tension was relieved when he saw Lynda, his smile was trembling on his lips, he gave a sigh of relieve as if her sight has taken away all his doubt.

The moment she reached close to him,he extended his hands warmly towards her, and Lynda responded by giving out her hands willingly, the glitters on her face an expression not only for feelings but also for victory.

The ceremony unfolded with solemn rhythm, the vows taken carefully, rings exchanged, the priest’s blessing sounding through the vaulted arches. Then came the word “I now pronounce you husband and wife”. the church flared up in cheers. Lynda raised her chin, savoring it all, while camera flashes exploded around her like tiny fireworks.

Lukas then imparted a kiss on her, slowly and gently, while she smiled against his lips. The bells, the flowers and the applause everything seemed to crown her.

The extravangancy was kept going in the hall. Chandeliers shine above tables, dressed in ivory linens, set with cutlery that was so captivating, waiters carried up and down, roasted chicken, herby salmon, buttery rolls, walking through clusters of laughing guests. In one corner a band slides from jazz into pop, drawing the crowd onto the dance floor.

Lynda entered into Lucas’s arm with another round of noisy applause from the guest, she had changed now into a silk gown that hugged her frame and flowed like a stream gold, as she move.she was surrounded by guest offering their congratulations, their compliments

pouring over like champagne.”you look good”, ”what a perfect couple”, “he is a good man”,

Lynda answered with hugs and nods, smiling like a queen accepting tributes.

However, below all that gracious poise, her heart was thrilled at something deeper than love. This for her, was a victory. The clink of forks, the raised glasses, the sideways glances from childhood friends, each bit was proof that she had left her old world behind.

At the high table, Lukas held Lynda’s hand tightly, his eyes sincere and bright like an innocent lamb

“Can you believe any of this is real?” he whispered.

She leaned in, her voice low “It is exactly what I always wanted.”

He understand it to be a sign of her love to him , partly it may be. But as she looked around at the lighted hall, the waiters distributing the meals her mind slipped of.and she murmured silently

“ It was not only about Lukas, it was about the life he represented. security, progress, a doorway to something I had always wanted”.

The toast began, her father’s voice thick with emotions as he spoke of her life in childhood, lukas brother teasing about old pranks, Lynda’s maid of honour teasing about late night dreams scribbled in journals. When they rose for their first dance, the band softened into a ballad. Lukas led with steady steps, and Lynda floated across the floor, half her eyes closed, the moment of her triumph complete

Still, there were little pockets of unease. Her mother watched from the edge of the floor, her smile delicate, her eyes never quite leaving Lynda’s face as if searching for something beneath all that shine. At a nearby table, a cousin whispered, “She is aiming for more than just love, you will see.” Those comments were unnoticed by most people who are thrilled by the rhythms of the music but it had left a crack on the walls, only time will tell.

After cutting the cake and tossing of the bouquet , the ceremony gradually winded up with a low song that brought the couples together under a faint light, it was time for their exit, and many guests crowded the door, weaving ribbons and showing appreciation , Lukas and Lynda made their way out, into a waiting sleek black car at the curb, lukas was joyful and smiled as he wen into the back seat, arms round Lynda’s shoulder, Lynda waived from the glass, her grin bright , her heart full of nerves and excitement .

Driving to the airport was just as quite as normal, Lukas sat relax at the seat, while Lynda glanced at the city skyline glowing against the night, Her thought went back to that cramped apartment she had grown up in, to crowded buses, to thrift shop dresses. All these things seems to her that it belonged to another person,

Before the departure, the whole family rounded together for the final goodbye. Her father wrapped Lukas in a solid hug, murmuring, “Take care of her.” Her mother held Lynda’s hands tight, eyes shiny with tears. “Remember who you are, honey. Do not lose yourself.”

Lynda held her mother back, all her gaze fixed toward the airport runway, and the planes moving around it preparing for take off, it seems that the world has started opening up for her with huge glitters and great promises

They walked toward security, Lukas hauling the suitcases, calm and steady. Lynda glanced over her shoulder. Her parents stood together. For a moment, her heart squeezed tight with something a little like doubt. She took a breath, straightened her dress, and stepped forward.

The gates swallowed them up. The future waited.

Lynda knew that she is not merely leaving home but she is stepping out of the ordinary for good.
