Is it enough?

Jayden Point of View.

I felt her body tremble and saw her eyes fill with tears as she glanced from my eyes to my lips. My tone was pleading; I was almost begging for any sign that I shouldn't give up on her, but she gave me none. She swallowed hard, and when her eyes met mine again, they showed a coldness that nearly froze my soul.

"I love Daon. Only him! I don't feel anything for you. So move on and be happy with whoever you want," she stated, and I shook my head in denial.

"He's not even being honest with you!" I said, knowing it might drive them apart, and I realized I would do anything for her.

"What?" Jane asked, turning her body toward me upon hearing my words. I stepped closer, grabbing her arms.

"The woman at the table, Louyse, is in love with him, and they almost got together," I revealed, and she smiled, looking disappointed in me.

"You are really low. He told me about her. He's honest and doesn't play with people, unlike you, who are saying this to turn me against him," Jane accused, and I realized the mistake I had made.

She shook her head in disappointment, clearly upset. She pulled away from my touch and stormed off, slamming the door behind her. For the first time in my life, I cried over a woman, but I decided I wouldn't do it again. When I returned to the table, I saw her downing a shot of tequila in Daon's hand and kissing him as if she wanted to devour him.

I noticed Louyse was almost in tears, and after some time, Daon gently pushed her away, smiling but still pushing her away. If it were me in his place, if I could have her, I would never push her away. She took Simon by the arm and led him to the dance floor. I watched from a distance as she taught him how to dance, completely mesmerized by her sensual movements on the dance floor.

"Wow, Jane doesn't just dance; she gives a masterclass. I wish I could control my life the way she controls her body. Seriously, Daon, can you handle all that?" Jessi asked, making Daon blush, but then he gave a smug smile that irritated me. "Now I understand why you got married so quickly; she must have bewitched you with those dances," Jessi continued, and Daon smiled but noticed Louyse's discomfort and decided to change the subject.

"Aren't you all going to dance?" Daon asked, trying to shift the conversation as he saw Louyse seemed uncomfortable.

"I want to, but after seeing her dance, I'm too embarrassed. What is she teaching him now?" Jessi asked, wide-eyed.

"I don't know, but it's amazing!" I commented, smiling, enchanted by her despite myself.

We watched Simon as he tried to jump while clapping his hands on his hips. I thought I would feel jealous, but I found it amusing.

"Don't you want to dance?" Leeji asked, approaching and running her hands down my arms.

"No. I don't think I can dance like that," I replied, and she moved closer, wrapping my arm around her.

"I'm cold. Warm me up?" Leeji asked, and I saw Jane watching from afar. A waiter passed by, and she grabbed another shot of tequila, downing it in one go.

"Go for it, love! This is your moment," Daon shouted to Jane as the music changed, and she came over to the table, giving him a kiss.

"It's too hot in here," Jane complained.

"Take off your blazer, love," Daon suggested, noticing her discomfort.

"Are you sure it's okay? This dress reveals a bit too much. What if people stare?" Jane asked, uneasy.

"Will it make you more comfortable?" Daon asked, concerned, and she nodded. "Then let them stare. You're mine anyway," Daon encouraged, and she smiled at him.

I couldn't understand how he didn't get jealous of her. When she took off the blazer, I stopped breathing for a few seconds. Underneath, she wore a short, shiny black dress that covered very little of her body, driving me crazy. I wanted to cover her with a coat and take her away from here.

"Go on, love, dance like the day I met you!" Daon shouted, encouraging her.

She returned to the dance floor, moving sensually, squatting on the floor, tossing her hair, putting on a show of sensuality, and attracting everyone's attention in the club, making me incredibly jealous. Daon downed a shot of whiskey and went to the dance floor to join her.

"Let's dance for just a little while, please!" Leeji insisted, and I was so irritated that I snapped at her.

"If you want to dance so much, why don't you go alone?" I asked, annoyed, and Jessi widened her eyes. Everyone looked at me in shock, and the youngest shrank back a little, and I regretted what I had done.

"Hoshi, why don't the four of us dance? You, me, Leeji, and Louyse," Jessi suggested, trying to ease the situation.

"I'm not in the mood to dance," I replied, irritated.

"Then let's go, me, Hoshi, Leeji, and Simon, since he's now left alone on the dance floor," she suggested, insisting on getting Leeji out of there, and I mentally thanked her.

They got up, leaving the table, and only Louyse and I remained. The outcasts, the ones who would do anything to break up that couple. It was a horrible thought, but it kept growing stronger.

"You still love him, don't you?" I asked, and she downed a shot, smirking.

"And what difference does it make? What's the point of me being here, suffering for him while he makes out with that woman? I gave my heart to him, but she came along offering something else. So how can I compete?" she asked, raising her voice, and I realized she was getting drunk, which was dangerous.

"You know, I think you two would make a much better couple!" I said, mentally scolding myself.

Don't do this, Jayden. Don't play dirty.

"Really?" she asked, her eyes filling with tears.

"Of course! Daon always liked you. He talked about you all the time, and to be honest, I think he's enchanted by that woman. You should be the one with him!" I said, trying to provoke a fight or anything to separate them.

I felt terrible, yet I couldn't stop.

"Finally, someone sees it! This woman came out of nowhere and simply won him over. It should be me, Jayden! I should be married to him! I match him much better! That woman is vulgar; she has nothing to do with Daon!" Louyse stated, judgmental, clearly furious.

"Yes! Did you see him avoiding her kiss earlier?" I asked, adding fuel to the fire.

"I did! I thought I was going crazy, but it's true; he avoids her. He's a gentleman, a sweetheart; she's just a seductress! Look at that dress! She's doing it on purpose. All the men are staring at her. And she can have them all for all I care. I just want him. Just him to look at me, Jayden. Is that so impossible?" she lamented, tears streaming down her face.

"Of course not! I think you shouldn't give up on your love so easily," I advised, feeling like the worst scoundrel in the world.

"But what can I do? They're married!" she asked, defeated.

"Make him see you're the right woman for him. Flirt with him, let go of your shyness," I said, and rage consumed me inside; I had no idea what I was doing. "If he likes women like that, be like that! Take off that coat, pull him to dance, move a little, kiss him. I don't know, do something, Louyse!" I demanded, desperate, and the truth was, I was encouraging her to do everything I wanted to do with Jane but couldn't.

"But what if he pushes me away?" she asked, and I shrugged.

"You already have a no, go after the yes," I insisted, and she seemed motivated.

"You're right! I'll drink a bit more and show that I can be sexy too!" she declared, determined.

She started downing drinks, and after some time, they returned to the table. When I noticed, Leeji was kissing me passionately, invading my mouth with a taste of sweet liquor on her lips. When she pulled away, I looked and saw Jane standing in front of me, watching the scene, and no one seemed to notice that our eyes never left each other for a minute. Everyone sat down, and Leeji seemed drunk as she stroked my thigh, making Jane even more uncomfortable. I was the only sober person at that table, as every time Leeji touched me, Jane downed another shot of tequila.

"Boss, will you take me home?" Leeji asked in an irritating voice.

Her tone was provocative, and Jessi started mocking.

"Yeah, boss, take her home," Jessi said, mimicking her irritating tone.

Before I could respond, I felt a hand grasp mine under the table, intertwining our fingers, making me smile. I looked at Jane, feeling the warmth of her skin, and in her eyes, I could see it was her way of saying she didn't want me to go with Leeji. But would that be enough to stop me?
