Never Again

Jayden Park

We left, and Daon placed Jane in the back seat of my car. He quickly got in, sitting beside her, and she immediately nestled into his lap. Every interaction between them, every touch, every word of affection, every "I love you" felt like they were burning my skin with a hot iron. Throughout the drive, I struggled to control myself from pulling her out of his arms. I couldn't keep my eyes on the road because I wanted to look at her constantly, torturing myself with every scene of them together. Halfway there, she fell asleep in his arms, and I knew they would sleep together, he would feel her warmth, he would have her forever, not me. When we finally arrived, he got out of the car with her in his arms, and I didn't have the courage to get out.

"Do you want to sleep here?" Daon asked, as helpful as ever, and I shook my head. The truth was, I didn't want to see how happy they were anymore, because it reminded me that we would never be.

"No, I'd better go home," I said, trying to control the tone of my voice despite the growing urge to cry, making my throat feel tighter.

"It's really late, sleep here, man! It's not the first time you've slept on my couch. I'll even give you a goodnight kiss!" Daon joked, pouting, and I ended up laughing.

I thought about it for a bit and ended up agreeing. I was exhausted from everything that had happened, and it was very late.

"Yeah, you're right, it's better if I sleep here," I agreed, and Daon made a face.

"Look, I was kidding about the kiss, don't get excited!" Daon joked, and I threw my head back, laughing at his antics.

I got out of the car, and we went into the house, which now had a different decor from when Daon was single. Every corner of the house now had her touch and scent. Daon was having trouble climbing the stairs with her because he was a bit drunk too.

"Let me take her," I said, approaching to take her into my arms.

"No, her dress is dirty, I'll take care of it," Daon insisted, but I knew he wouldn't manage.

"I said I'd take her," I stated, determined, and he finally seemed to agree.

I took her from his arms and carried her up the stairs, feeling the warmth of her body. When we reached the bedroom, I laid her on the bed, and she shifted, grumbling.

"Love, you need to take a bath," Daon said, and Jane mumbled as if she had asked a question, so he explained, "Bath, love, your clothes are dirty," Daon said, pointing to her dress.

"Today is not Saturday," she grumbled, and we ended up laughing.

"She's getting better. Come on, love, let's take a bath! Thanks, Jayden, make yourself at home. You can grab some of my clothes from the closet to sleep in. You know where the pillows and blankets are. Go to sleep, I'll give this young lady a bath," Daon said, and Jane reluctantly got up but seemed a bit better.

"Thanks. I'll grab some clothes then," I agreed, defeated.

They went into the bathroom, and just imagining him seeing her naked bothered me. I went to the closet in search of clothes and saw her clothes, dresses too sensual for my taste, some animal-themed pajamas that must look funny on her, the super sexy nightgowns she must wear to sleep with him. Damn it, I'd better not think about it. I grabbed sweatpants and a shirt, quickly looked for a blanket and a pillow to get out of there. When I passed by the bathroom door, I heard her laughter, she was laughing with him, her laughter filled the whole room.

"No, love! I don't want to get out of the bath! Come bathe with me!" Jane said, as if completely unaware of my presence outside.

"Love, it's late. I'm tired!" Daon refused, and I rolled my eyes, knowing that no matter how tired I was, I would never deny her anything.

"Come on, love, it's just a bath," Jane insisted with an innocent voice.

"Do you think I don't know you? You want to take advantage of my body," Daon joked, and she laughed.

"Always! Who told you to be so sexy?" Jane affirmed, and I heard his voice become deeper.

"Don't talk like that, I can't resist!" He responded, seeming to consider it, and I just wanted to go in there and say it couldn't happen because I loved her.

They both laughed, and I left, so I wouldn't hear anything else. I went downstairs, threw the blankets on the couch, and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I wanted to leave, but I wanted to be there in the morning when she woke up, to see if she would remember what she told me in the club's bathroom. I lay on the couch and tried to sleep, but I could only think about him with her. If they were doing something, they weren't doing it right because, with me, the neighbor across the street would hear her moans of pleasure, and here I was in the living room, not hearing anything.

Observing the two of them, you can tell they're happy. Apparently, they have no problems. They seem like the perfect couple, and she seems to genuinely love him. For the first time, I'm really thinking about stepping away after everything I heard tonight. I spend the rest of the night thinking and can only sleep when the day is already breaking. I woke up hearing music in the distance and realized it was coming from the kitchen. When I got there, I saw Jane from behind, dancing and stirring something in a pot. Her hips moved to the rhythm of the music, and she was singing cheerfully while cooking.

She hadn't noticed my presence, and I took advantage of the sight of her body covered by a loose long-sleeved shirt and shorts that, even so, didn't make her any less sexy. Her hair was wet, indicating she had already showered and was now making breakfast. The smell of her cooking was delicious, but seeing her move her hips to the sound of a familiar song while singing carefree was so sexy that it made me want to pin her against the stove and love her right there. After some time, she turned to get a plate that was on a delicately arranged tray, and her expression changed when she saw me. She almost dropped the plate and brought her hand to her chest, showing how startled she was.

"Jayden, what are you doing here?" Jane asked, intrigued, and I realized my biggest fear was coming true. She didn't remember anything.

"So you don't remember yesterday?" I asked, my voice trembling.

"No! I don't remember anything. I only remember dancing with Daon, and after that, I don't remember anything," Jane stated, confused, and I couldn't believe this was happening. Anger consumed me, and I wanted to stay there until she admitted she liked me. I clenched my fists in an attempt to control my anger, but it didn't seem to work.

"Where's Daon?" I asked, thinking about what to do, and she looked around, worried.

"Sleeping," Jane affirmed. She was behind the counter, and I walked over, making her step back.

"Jayden, what are you doing?" Jane asked, unable to take her eyes off the stairs, as if she feared Daon would appear at any moment.

I didn't answer, just wrapped my arms around her, making our bodies attract like two magnets, and before I knew it, we were making love uncontrollably. I knew it wouldn't be like this with any other woman. I kissed her mouth, feeling her response with all the desire I also had. I reveled in her mouth, and at that moment, we didn't care about what could happen, the fierce and primal desire consumed us, and the only thing that mattered now was the delicious sensation when our bodies collided.

"Say you love me!" I demanded while we made love, and she was so out of it that she just looked at me confused.

"What?" she asked, looking at me, scared, her face flushed.

"Say you love me!" I asked, kissing her neck, and when she sighed with desire, I begged, "Say it, Jane!" I insisted, needing an answer to end my agony.

"No!" she said firmly, without any hesitation.

She really didn't love me, and that was the answer. I needed to stop what we were doing and start getting dressed, leaving her confused.

"Jayden, this isn't the place for any of this. Pick me up here later, and we'll go to a motel to talk, but never do this of kissing me here again," Jane demanded, and I shook my head.

"Don't worry, I won't do this here or anywhere else again!" I stated, and she looked at me, confused, seeking answers while adjusting her own clothes.

"What do you mean? What are you saying?" Jane asked, wide-eyed.

"That now I'm the one who doesn't want it anymore!" I said simply, putting my hands in my pockets.

My tone was cold, and she seemed lost. Her eyes filled with tears, and she tried to touch my face, but before she could, Daon entered the kitchen with a stern expression.

"Don't want what anymore?"
