Just One Night

I couldn't resist the idea of being in a place where no other woman had been before. I wanted to go to his house, to see the environment where he felt comfortable, and I really wanted to feel that I was the first one to do so. When we arrived, he parked the car in the garage of the building, which was common but very beautiful. The modern architecture of the condominium added an extra charm and made the place feel cozy.

He got out of the car, opened the door for me, and extended his hand to help me out. We entered the elevator, and Jayden pressed the button for the top floor. He was excited like a child, and I couldn't stop smiling. He pulled me into a hug and began kissing me amid the smiles that lit up his face.

"I love seeing you like this," he said, his voice gentle.

"Like what?" I asked, intrigued.

"Smiling, accepting my kisses, talking all cute," he said, cupping my face in his hands and eagerly kissing my lips.

"Really? You're loving it?" I asked, feeling pleased, and he nodded.

"Really loving you!" he said, giving me a kiss with each word, making me smile like a fool.

For a few moments, we even seemed like a normal couple, something we would never be. When the elevator doors opened, he walked to the door and was about to enter the code, but seemed to think of something and turned to me, looking worried.

"Do you like dogs?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as if fearing my reaction.

"Well, I stayed with you, didn't I?" I joked, and he ended up laughing despite trying to control himself.

"That's not funny!" he said, trying to appear serious, but I noticed the curve at the corner of his mouth.

"Then why are you laughing?" I asked, teasing.

He pretended not to hear and continued.

"I have two dogs, Oscar and P J, but they don't like visitors very much and are a bit fierce," he explained, and I shrugged.

"It's okay, I'm good at taming beasts," I said ironically, referring to him, and he smiled.

"Really?" he asked, smiling.

"Of course! You're a good example of that," I teased, tossing my hair back as I looked around, noticing that everything was very organized for a single man's apartment.

He looked at me seriously while I kept laughing. He finally opened the door, and I saw that the two "beasts" he described were two little dogs with short legs and long bodies who came wagging their tails when they saw the door open. I couldn't resist and sat on the floor, letting them sniff me, and soon I was scratching each of their bellies as they rolled over for me.

"What adorable little dogs, what lovely bellies," I said in a cute voice that I always used when talking to an animal, and I picked up Oscar, who started licking my face while Jayden watched in amazement.

"I'm shocked," he said, and I looked at him curiously.

"Why?" I asked, scratching the brown dog's belly, who moved his paw every time my hand went up and down his belly.

"Because they're not like this with anyone. You've even won over my dogs," Jayden said, astonished.

He walked over to the sofa and flopped down, watching me, and by the way he was looking at me, I knew what he wanted. I was on the floor, so I crawled over to the sofa, ran my hand up his thighs to his chest, and climbed onto the sofa, sitting on his lap. He began kissing me passionately, running his fingers over my body. I was ready to give myself to him, but when I looked to the side, I saw the dogs sitting quietly, watching us intently, and I couldn't continue.

"Jayden?" I called his name between our kisses, and he just grunted in response.

He kissed me more intensely, devouring my mouth and biting my lips.

"Are we going to do this in front of the dogs?" I asked playfully.

He looked to the side, seeing the dogs, and tried to stay serious, but I could see him trying not to laugh.

"Yes! In the doggy style position," he replied, joining in the joke.

"So if I call you a big dog, will you bark for me?" I asked, my face red from wanting to laugh so much.

At that moment, he couldn't hold back any longer, and we started laughing, completely breaking the mood. When he stopped laughing, he picked me up and carried me to the bedroom, which had a huge bed where we rolled around for hours, making love intensely and carefree, as if nothing else in the world mattered. When our bodies needed a break, he intertwined our hands, and we spent some time staring at the bedroom ceiling.

"Are you hungry?" he asked, and I turned to kiss him again.

"For you? Always!" I teased, and he laughed, covering himself with the sheet, pretending to be afraid of me.

"For food, woman, for God's sake, I need to refuel my energy because I think I'm out," Jayden explained, and I laughed, giving in and moving my hands away from his body.

"We made a huge mess here," I commented, looking around and noticing that even the lamp on the nightstand had fallen to the floor.

He seemed impressed and looked at the lamp, admiring his handiwork.

"The cleaning lady is going to have a lot of work tomorrow," Jayden commented with a smile.

"So there is a woman who comes in here," I commented, and he laughed, noticing that I was jealous.

"Yes! A very experienced one," he replied proudly, and I crossed my arms.

"Really? Good to know!" I commented, trying to hide my annoyance.

"She's probably around sixty years old," he explained, laughing.

I started laughing and relaxed.

"Don't worry, this corn on the cob is all yours!" he said, and I looked at him completely confused. How did he know that? I thought this when we first got together but never said it out loud. Or did I? He started laughing, seeing my confusion.

"How do you know that?" I asked, curious.

"The day you got drunk, you cried and begged me not to give your corn on the cob to anyone," Jayden explained, feeling smug.

I covered my face with my hands, dying of embarrassment, but at the same time, dying of laughter.

"My God, alcohol before killing you, humiliates you. What else did I say?" I asked, curious.

He looked at me tenderly, his eyes shining as he remembered.

"That you liked me a lot and asked me not to be with anyone because I was only yours. And you were right, I really am," he said, looking into my eyes, and those words felt so real that they almost made me believe.

I ended up smiling, and he pulled me to the bathroom to take a shower. When we came out, I put on one of his shirts.

"You should dress like that twenty-four hours a day," he said, admiring me.

"The men would love it," I teased, and he got serious, pulling me to him.

"No other men, just me," he demanded, and I looked at him, pretending to think about it.

"Just you, huh?" I asked, smiling.

"Just me!" he confirmed, kissing me while smiling, and I teased him, scratching his abdomen.

"Wait a bit, let me eat first because I need to refuel my energy," he said, escaping from me for the second time.

I laughed, and he grabbed his phone to find a place to order food.

"How about pizza?" Jayden suggested, and I eagerly agreed.

"Yes, please! Pepperoni!" I asked, looking out the window, enchanted by the view.

He placed the order, and we threw ourselves on the bed. He pulled me close, showering me with affection, and we enjoyed that lazy moment. I watched him lying there with his eyes closed, purring like a kitten as he received my affection.

"This is so good!" he commented, sighing.

"What?" I asked, feeling my entire body relax.

"Just being like this, giving and receiving affection. I didn't think it would be this good," he said, and I narrowed my eyes, curious.

"You've never done this?" I asked, surprised, and he laughed softly.

"Of course not! I never wanted any of this before you," he answered quickly, without even thinking.

He looked at me, and I got lost in his gaze for a moment, my heart racing, knowing the danger I was in. He was like a precipice, and I seemed more and more willing to dive into a free fall, not knowing where it would lead.

"What's your favorite color?" His question pulled me out of my thoughts, and I ended up laughing.

"Red. Why?" I asked, intrigued.

"I just want to know more about you. Do you have any allergies?" he answered with another question, and I propped myself up on my elbow to look at him.

"Nuts, and you?" I returned the question, and he sighed.

"Macadamias," his response made me frown.

"They're not even that good," I said, shrugging, and he agreed.

"True. What's your biggest fear?" he asked, and I had this answer on the tip of my tongue.

At the moment, my biggest fear was falling in love with him, but I wouldn't let him know the power he had over me. So I decided to talk about a fear I had my whole life.

"Tsunamis," I said simply, and he looked at me, puzzled.

"I know it's silly, an irrational fear, but I have recurring nightmares about it. So, whenever I'm dreaming, and I see a calm sea, I already start to panic because I know that at any moment, a giant wave will form and try to hit me," I explained, sighing as I realized I had never told anyone this.

He seemed to reflect for a few moments and shrugged.

"Well, it's not irrational. It's something that can kill you in real life, so it makes sense," he countered, and I agreed.

"And you?" I asked, and he closed his eyes, seeming to think.

"I think it's going through life and feeling like I left nothing good behind. Feeling like I didn't do anything really important for the world," he explained, and I stroked his face.

"Well, that's a fear you don't need to have," I said, smiling at him, and he returned the smile, taking my breath away.

"What's your favorite song?" he asked, and I sighed.

"Anything by Bruno Ocean," I replied, excited, and he looked at me, intrigued.

"Really?" he asked, and I nodded.

"Yes, that man makes me go to heaven with that delicious voice of his," I answered, teasing him.

He started laughing, and I clung to his neck, leaving a kiss on his lips that made him lose his tough demeanor. The pizza finally arrived, and we started eating while continuing to talk about everything we liked and disliked. When we finished eating, we went back to bed and started all over again, our bodies meeting intensely. We made love on the bed, in the bathtub, and only stopped when the day was almost breaking because our exhausted bodies trembled as we reached ecstasy once again, realizing we couldn't continue. My voice was almost gone, so when I spoke, it came out weak and hoarse.

"Jayden?" I called his name in a sigh.

I watched his eyes get smaller and smaller, and he yawned, showing he was sleepy, and responded with a moan.

"You better take me home soon," I suggested, and he hugged me tighter.

"No, not yet. Stay with me just a little longer," he moaned and spoke in a pleading tone.

He pulled me close, and we cuddled. My eyelids were heavy, and I was dying of sleep.

"Jayden!" I called his name in a warning sign.

"Let's just take a little thirty-minute nap, and I'll take you home," he pleaded so sweetly that I ended up giving in.

Jayden set the alarm, and we snuggled in for a nap. The truth is, I was so comfortable that if I could, I would never leave. I was overcome by sleep and fell asleep. When I woke up, I felt rested and was surprised that the alarm hadn't gone off yet. When I looked at the clock, I saw that it was already past ten in the morning, and my heart almost stopped.

"Jayden!" I screamed, and that wasn't enough to wake him, so I started shaking him, and he mumbled something I couldn't understand before waking up.

"Jayden, it's already ten in the morning!" I said loudly, trying to get his attention, but he just mumbled, so I repeated even louder. "Ten in the morning, Jayden!" I shouted, irritated.

I got out of bed, turned on the light, and looked for my clothes, which were scattered around the room. I threw Jayden's clothes in his face, and he reluctantly got up. He still seemed very sleepy, making him slow. If I weren't so scared, I could admire how beautiful he looked with his sleepy face and messy hair, but at the moment, only one thing was on my mind.

"What should we do now? Daon will know everything!" I said, feeling the weight of knowing that, in just one night, I could have lost a marriage that could have lasted a lifetime.
