There was a muffled thwack as a pillow made contact with the side of Desmond’s head. He stirred once, but didn’t get up right away hoping that if he laid there long enough his assailant would leave. Again another thwack came and then another until finally Desmond reached up and yanked the pillow free from Ryan’s hands. After successfully disarming him, Desmond sat up and glared at Ryan.
