Later that day, Daniel comes back to my office, I didn’t notice he is standing by the door and next thing I hear is:

"Why?…After everything I did—why would you save me?"

I froze. My hand trembled.

"Because I still care." I let the words out uncontrollably. "God help me, I still care."
