I hear his office door open around one AM.

Can't sleep anyway. Too much circling in my head. The paintings. The crying. His face when I walked away.

I shouldn't go to him. Should stay in this guest room and build my walls higher.

Instead, I find myself walking down the hallway.

"Tell me about the loneliness," he says quietly. "During our marriage. I need to hear it."
