Four days in the hospital feels like four years.

The doctor clears me for discharge with a list of restrictions longer than my arm. No heavy lifting. Limited mobility. Physical therapy twice a week. Keep the wound clean and dry.

"You're lucky to be alive, Mr. Sterling," he says again, signing the discharge papers.
