I open my eyes, a pounding headache drilling through my skull. Letting out a small yawn, I stretch out on the couch. I don’t remember how I got here, but across the room is my huge bed—where I should have slept. In it, curled under the covers, is a small figure I instantly recognize as my wife, sound asleep.

Just as I’m about to get up and lie down for a moment, Giselle begins to stir. She untangles herself from the blankets and sits up, scanning the room.
