Elena
“Elena! Elena! Where are you? You liar?” Cara screams at the top of her voice, while opening doors with loud bangs looking for Elena. Irritation danced across her face making her face red.
Elena yelled from the balcony of her room, looking annoyingly irritated by the constant screaming of her name.
“Cara, what is it? Stop screaming my name as if you named me,” she said as she entered her room and met Cara standing and fuming at the same time with her hands intertwined across her chest.
“You liar, so I sent you to help me with my class attendance and you turn around to start dating the only guy my heart yearns for, how low can you be?”
I was confused for a minute, dating? Who?
“What're you talking about Cara?” I asked, looking confused and annoyed.
“I see, you’re not dumb sister, at least that's one thing I know about you. You know exactly what I'm talking about,” she responded, and an angry look stayed firm on her face.
It occurred to me that she's actually referring to Ryan, the tattooed guy that is feared by everyone on campus.
“I seemingly don't know the person you're talking about but if it's Ryan Blackwoods then what you heard is simply a rumor and it's not true,” I said, hoping she would just believe and leave me the hell alone.
“Elena, everyone on campus is talking about your affair with him, don't even try to deny it. He's everyone's dream you know,” she said, this time the anger on her face had subsided.
I sat on the bed and she did the same too. I was surprised how everyone on campus got to know about the fake relationship so soon. It's not even up to 48 hours, and we planned to keep it a secret.
“Cara, I'm not dating Ryan! He's very annoying and pompous and I can't be with someone like that even if he wants me to date him. So any rumor you hear is just a rumor and not true,” I said.
Just when she was about to say something, mom burst into my room with a wide smile on her face.
“Girls, Elena, Cara, someone is here to see you.”
Cara’s eyes shut up and she smiled. “Mom, when did you come back? And this person, what did he say name is?”
I showed no intention of moving. She remained sitting on the bed while Cara kept rambling about the visitor that was outside.
“Elena, are you not going to ask me who this person is? Mom asked while the smile still remained on her face.
But why is she smiling so loudly as if this person is a celebrity. Even if he is, and so what?
I yawned lazily, my eyes heavy with sleep as I haven't had time to close my eyes since after the dinner I had with Ryan and his entire family. Gosh! Those people looked as though they wanted to pounce on me.
I practically looked like a prey in their midst. But thank goodness for my outspoken nature. They were like wolves, asking multiple questions at the same time.
All I need right now is to sleep and forget about Ryan Blackwoods for a moment but it seems that request isn't going to be granted. Mom is practically over the moon for this visitor and I don't know the reason for that.
Signs of frustration and fatigue played across my face as I stared at her. “Mom, leave me alone. I’m sure I'm not the one this important visitor is looking for,” I said to her.
Cara was now standing close to the door, trying so hard to peep through the door if she could see anyone.
“Mom, please just tell us this person's name,” she begged.
“Well, he said his name is Ryan. He said he's a friend of Elena. And that I should inform you that he's taking you for a ride around town.”
At the mention of Ryan's name, Cara bolted for the door while mom’s mouth was wide open with surprise.
“Why did she run out like that?” Mom asked.
I shrugged. “You know how dramatic Cara can be. So just let her be.”
She turned to me. Those smiles still played on her lips. “What about you Elena? He's waiting for you outside.”
“Mom, I'm not going to meet him. Cara can go ahead with him.”
She was shocked and surprised at the same time. “Elena, I haven't seen you with anyone before. Unlike your sister who goes out with different boys with every chance she's got.”
“Mom, how did you know this?” So mom knows about Cara's philandering ways and she said nothing about it.
She laughed heartily. “You girls are my babies. Even though I'm always out working to provide for you both, I still know what goes on in this house whenever I'm not around,” she said, wrapping her hands around me.
“Hmmmm… and I love you for being the best mom.”
“Thank you Elena, now you've got to get dressed and meet him outside. Just don't keep him waiting.”
She left my room afterwards.
I’m not going anywhere with him, at least he could've given me a heads up before showing his face in my house, parading himself as my friend.
A few minutes later. I’ve been unable to sleep. I kept seeing his face everywhere I turned and tossing on my bed isn't something that I would like to do for the rest of the day. I might as well just swallow my pride and meet him outside for peace sake.
I looked through the window and saw Cara talking to him non stop while his facial expression says otherwise.
I smiled. Typical Cara, always going after every guy that is interested in me. I went to my closet, picked up a simple sweatshirt and a pair of leggings, nothing fancy as it's just a drive around town.
And just then. A notification enters my phone, taking my attention away from the task at hand.
I opened it, it's a message that dropped on our school's group chat and it got everyone talking and calling me all sorts of names.
I opened the image that's the reason for name calling only to see an offending picture that Cara sent to the group chat.
