I sat beside Kate, still watching her carefully as she slowly regained her strength. Gina entered the room with a large tray of food, the aroma of freshly baked bread and warm soup filling the air. The sight made me realize how hungry I was—I hadn't eaten properly since the council meeting yesterday.
