Kate stepped in. She looked concerned, her brows furrowed, but there was a gentle kindness in her eyes. I couldn’t help but feel comforted by her presence.

“How are you feeling?” she asked softly, her voice laced with genuine worry. “I overheard the doctor talking to an old man about your health… I was just wondering if everything’s okay.”
