I watched as Madam Marrisa left the room after telling me to rest. I nodded and thanked her, though I wasn’t exhausted. The bed was soft and warm, the sheets smelling of lavender, but sleep refused to come. I tossed and turned, trying to quiet my mind, but my thoughts kept returning to Kate. I couldn’t help but wonder how she was doing. Was she okay? Did the doctor treat her wound?
