I woke up alone.

Again.

But this time felt different. Worse somehow.

Because last night hadn't been like the other nights. Last night, we'd crossed every line. Shattered every boundary. Given each other everything.

And now he was gone.

I reached across the bed. The sheets were cold. He'd been gone for a while.

On his pillow, a note. Folded once. My name written in his sharp, precise handwriting.
