Maya's POV

Elena's screams don't stop. They've been going for twenty minutes now. Twenty minutes of pure, unfiltered agony that echoes through the training room and burrows into my skull like living things.

I've stopped fighting against the soldiers holding me. There's no point. They're too strong and I'm too weak. So I just stand here, forced to watch, forced to listen, forced to witness what my father is doing to the woman who gave birth to me.
