The radio went silent. Karl's body lay motionless in the snow, steam still rising from the silver wound in his chest. Elijah had stopped screaming. Now he just stared at his brother's corpse, making small broken sounds that barely sounded human.

I couldn't look away. Couldn't process what had happened. Nathan. It had been Nathan all along.

"Bring Elena Rodriguez forward," Seraphina repeated. Her warriors moved to obey, dragging my mother toward the center of the compound.
