Maya POV

Karl comes at me like a machine. No hesitation. No emotion. Just programmed violence executing Seraphina's commands.

His fist swings toward my head. I duck. The punch passes so close I feel the air displacement. He's faster than he ever was alive. Stronger. The modified serum has turned his corpse into something beyond enhanced.

"Karl, stop!" I keep backing away. "I know you're in there. I know you can hear me."
