The next morning, I snatched the newspaper off the front steps and scanned the front page. There it was, the thing I’d been dreading.

The headline read “Oliver Crest’s Next Victim.”

I didn’t bother with the article, at least not yet, but I looked at the pictures. Fortunately, the photographer hadn’t gotten a clear shot of me. That didn’t change the fact that there were still pictures of me by the pool with Oliver.
