Chapter 36: An Eternal Devotion

Edith didn’t sleep well.

She pondered over Judith’s words, tossing and turning all night long. Finally, in the early hours of the morning when it was still dark, Edith got out of the bed and went back to the chairs before the fire. The smell of fresh paint and wood still lingered in the air.

Just as she settled in to her chair, the floor creaked suspiciously in the corner of the room. Edith turned her head sharply as Miles formed from the darkness.
