I nearly stopped breathing at Ellis’ cold words. What was he saying to me? Why was he looking at me like that, so cold and distant? Was he mad at me?

I didn’t understand what was going on.

I remembered Ellis grabbing onto me and holding me through that terrible ordeal as our car crashed and flipped over. I got chills thinking about how things could have ended so much worse for both of us. We were both alive, that alone was a miracle.
