BRIANNA
I was jolted awake by the loud hum of the blender coming from downstairs. The sound was so intense, it almost felt like a machine was operating inside the house. Groggily, I blinked my eyes open and scanned my surroundings. I was lying in bed, comfortably tucked under the duvet. When I pulled it back, I realized I was completely naked beneath it. The realization hit me like a freight train—everything that had happened the night before flooded back into my mind.
My cheeks flamed hot with a rush of embarrassment as the memories replayed, each moment sharper than the last. How would I ever face Adrian after everything that had transpired? The thought of it made my stomach twist.
A frustrated groan escaped my lips as I buried my face in the pillow, wishing I could just will myself back to sleep and forget it all. But the sound of footsteps approaching my room soon broke through my thoughts. I quickly shut my eyes and pretended to be asleep, hoping to escape the inevitable confrontation.
I heard the door creak open and felt the presence of someone entering the room. A few moments later, I heard the unmistakable clatter of something being placed on the bedside table. The bed shifted as someone moved, and then I felt the warmth of sunlight suddenly fill the room as the curtains were drawn back.
“I know you’re awake,” a deep voice said, his back to me. I flinched at the sound of it. How did he know? Was he some sort of wizard? The thought made me wonder—does he have eyes in the back of his head?
“No, I’m not,” I mumbled, my voice thick with sleep. It was a stupid thing to say, and I immediately regretted it when I heard him turn to face me. The intense look in his eyes sent a heat rushing to my cheeks, and I couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious.
“Good morning, beautiful,” he greeted, his voice smooth as he made his way over to my side of the bed. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on my forehead, lingering just a moment longer than necessary.
“Good morning, handsome,” I replied, managing a small smile despite the way my heart fluttered at the tenderness of his gesture.
“I trust you had a good night?” His question was more of a statement, but the smirk that tugged at the corner of his lips made me want to wipe it off his face.
“Of course, I had the best night of my life,” I said with a soft chuckle, trying to keep things light despite the weight of my thoughts.
“I brought you breakfast.” He lifted a tray from the bedside table and held it out to me. I sat up, still clutching the duvet to my chest as though it could shield me from the overwhelming sensations flooding through me.
“There’s no need to hide it, I’ve seen and felt, and even tasted everything, remember?” He gave me that arrogant smile that always seemed to rile me up. That’s Adrian, alright—a smug bastard through and through.
“That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t cover my body when I need to,” I shot back, narrowing my eyes at him. His laughter was infectious, though, and I couldn’t help but shake my head in disbelief.
I reluctantly accepted the tray, placing it carefully on my lap. The spread was simple but delicious—toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon, along with a cup filled with an orange-colored smoothie that looked a little too strange to be trusted.
“What is this?” I asked, pointing at the cup with a skeptical frown.
“Carrot, apple, and orange blended together to make a smoothie. It’s healthy and will give you energy in case we want to go for another round this morning,” he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. The last part of his sentence was accompanied by a playful wink, and I couldn’t suppress the blush that rushed to my face.
I grabbed one of the pillows on the bed and tossed it at him, not caring that he caught it effortlessly with one hand.
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re a pervert?” I asked, my voice laced with playful irritation.
“Actually, you’re not the first one to tell me that,” he responded, his grin only widening. “I’ve heard it a number of times.”
“You’re insufferable,” I muttered, rolling my eyes at him, though the smile tugging at my lips betrayed me.
We ate in relative silence for a few minutes, with Adrian watching me intently as if I were the most interesting thing he’d ever seen. It was a little unnerving, but I chose to ignore it and finish my food.
Once I was done, I wiped my mouth with a napkin and looked up at him. “So, what’s the plan for today?”
“We’re going to an amusement park—one of the best in Madrid,” he announced, his tone casual, but I could hear the excitement beneath it.
“Seriously?” I asked, just to confirm.
“Yes, why?” he responded, clearly amused by my surprise.
“I didn’t think you were the type to go to an amusement park,” I said, raising an eyebrow in disbelief.
“Why? Am I too old for it?” He feigned confusion, his lips twitching in amusement.
“Definitely not. I guess I just assumed you were too serious for it,” I said with a small laugh.
“I’m not too old. Sometimes, I secretly enjoy feeling like a kid again,” he confessed, his tone light but sincere.
“Alright, I’ll get ready then,” I said, smiling at the thought of spending the day at an amusement park with him.
“Wait a moment,” he said, his tone shifting slightly, “I have something to discuss with you.”
“What’s that? I’m all ears,” I said, my curiosity piqued.
“About your mother’s condition... You told me there was no money to take her to the hospital for treatment, so I’m going to pay for all of her treatments,” he said, his voice steady and unwavering.
I stared at him in disbelief, my heart pounding in my chest. “Are you for real?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Yes,” he replied simply, his gaze softening as he watched me.
“I can’t possibly accept this…” My voice trailed off as I struggled to process what he was offering.
“You have to,” he said firmly. “And I’m getting you that new phone today, too.”
“This is too much.” Tears began to well up in my eyes as the weight of his kindness settled in. I had been struggling to make ends meet, to pay for my mom’s medications, and now here he was, offering to cover her treatments. It felt like a dream, and yet, somehow, it was all too real.
“How can I thank you?” I mumbled, wiping away a stray tear that had fallen down my cheek.
“By giving me that sexy lap dance you did last night. That would be the best gift ever,” he said, the smirk on his face as smug as ever.
Despite my tears, I chuckled, the playful banter between us making me feel lighter. “I’ll definitely give you that sexy lap dance,” I said, my voice teasing, even though the emotions swirling inside me were anything but light.
“That’s my good girl,” he said with a wink, his smile making my heart skip a beat. “Now go take your bath and dress up. We’ll be leaving for the amusement park soon.”
He started to walk out of the room, but I called out to him before he could leave.
“Erm... Would you like to join me in the bathroom? That is, if you haven’t taken a shower already,” I said, my voice suddenly shy, and he turned around with a fiery look in his eyes.
“I wouldn’t turn down an offer like that, not even if I’ve already showered,” he said, his voice low and seductive. Without missing a beat, he stripped off his t-shirt, revealing the sculpted muscles of his chest. My breath caught in my throat—best view ever.
He walked toward the bathroom, and I followed him in, my heart racing in anticipation. Well, let’s just say that shower was one of the best I’d ever had in my life—definitely unforgettable.
