Chapter Three
When I heard Vincenzo’s voice calling out to me, something inside me twisted. I didn’t want to leave him. Even though I had lost my memories, I could feel a connection to him that made me want to stay. The panic of the moment snapped at me, urging me to choose safety over fear. I was terrified, but a part of me knew I might be safe with him.
“Vincenzo!” I shouted, my heart racing. I took a step back toward him, wanting to reach his side. “I don’t want to go!”
“Emily, you have to trust me!” he called out, his voice filled with urgency. I could see the tension in his eyes, and it made me want to run to him even more.
But before I could reach him, Maria lunged at me. I felt her hands grab my shoulders, and in an instant, she knocked me down. The world spun as I hit the ground, my vision going dark.
When I finally opened my eyes again, I found myself in a soft bed, the sheets cool against my skin. I blinked, trying to clear my head. Confusion washed over me as I looked around, and then I realized I was in a luxurious room. The walls were adorned with rich colors, and the furniture looked expensive.
“Where am I?” I murmured, trying to sit up. That’s when I noticed I wasn’t alone. Vincenzo was sitting beside me, his strong arms wrapped protectively around me.
“Emily,” he said softly, relief flooding his voice. “You’re safe.”
I stared at him, my heart racing. How could a man be this handsome? His features were sharp, his jawline strong, and those red eyes there was something captivating about them. “What happened?” I asked, my voice shaky.
“You were almost taken,” he explained, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “I couldn’t let that happen. I had to bring you here.”
“Why did you save me?” I asked, confusion mixing with curiosity. “I don’t understand.”
Vincenzo’s expression softened, but his eyes held a depth of emotion. “Because you saved me first. A long time ago.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, my brow furrowing. I racked my brain, trying to pull up any memory of him, but it was like trying to grasp smoke. I couldn’t remember anything.
Before I could ask more, the door suddenly burst open with a loud bang. I jumped, heart racing as a figure stormed into the room.
“Alpha!” the newcomer shouted, his voice urgent. “We’re ready to execute her!”
I felt a cold wave wash over me, panic gripping my heart. “Execute? What are you talking about?” I gasped, looking between Vincenzo and the intruder.
Vincenzo’s face hardened as he stood up, his body tense. “No! You can’t do this!”
“Why not? She’s a rogue! She’s dangerous!” the man argued, his eyes blazing with anger.
“I don’t care!” Vincenzo shouted back, his voice booming. “I won’t let you harm her!”
I felt a rush of fear and confusion. “What’s happening? Who are you?” I shouted, trying to understand.
“Stay back!” Vincenzo ordered, stepping in front of me. “You don’t know her like I do!”
“Alpha, she’s a threat to our pack!” the man insisted, crossing his arms defiantly. “You’re putting all of us at risk!”
I could feel Vincenzo’s anger radiating off him, and it made my heart race. “I don’t care!” he shouted again. “She has done nothing wrong!”
The tension in the room was thick, and I could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on us. I turned to Vincenzo, desperate for answers. “Why are they saying this? What did I do?”
“You’re not a threat, Emily,” Vincenzo said, his voice softer now. “You’re just caught in the middle of this. I won’t let them hurt you.”
“But I’m just a rogue,” I said, my voice trembling. “I don’t even know why I’m here!”
The intruder shook his head, frustration etching lines on his face. “You don’t get it! The pack can’t allow any rogue to live. It’s against our laws!”
“Enough!” Vincenzo shouted, his voice echoing off the walls. “I won’t let you take her. She’s important to me.”
“Important?” the man scoffed. “You’re risking everything for a rogue? This is madness!”
I felt lost, caught in the middle of their argument. “Vincenzo, what do I mean to you?” I asked, my heart pounding. “Why do you care?”
Vincenzo looked at me, his expression filled with intensity. “Because you’re part of something bigger, Emily. There’s a reason you’re here, and I need to protect you.”
The intruder stepped forward, anger brewing in his eyes. “You’re putting us all at risk, Alpha! She doesn’t belong here!”
I could feel the tension rising, the air thick with uncertainty. “Please, someone tell me what’s going on!” I cried, panic creeping back in.
“Emily,” Vincenzo said, turning to me, his voice steady. “You have to trust me. I promise I’ll keep you safe.”
“Your promises don’t matter if they kill me!” I shouted, my voice breaking. I felt trapped, like I was about to lose everything again.
The intruder glared at me, his eyes filled with disdain. “You’re just a rogue. You don’t belong in our world!”
I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes. “I don’t want to die! I just want to remember who I am!”
Vincenzo’s expression shifted, his eyes softening. “You will, Emily. I’ll help you remember. But first, we have to get out of here.”
“Alpha, you can’t be serious!” the man argued, disbelief etched on his face. “If you run, it will only make things worse!”
“I don’t care!” Vincenzo said, determination hardening his voice. “I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her.”
“Vincenzo, please,” I said, my heart racing. “I don’t know what to do!”
“Stay with me,” he said firmly, stepping closer. “I won’t let anyone take you away.”
Just then, heavy footsteps approached from the hallway, and I could hear voices growing louder. My heart raced as fear washed over me.
“Vincenzo, we don’t have much time!” I urged, panic rising. “What do we do?”
“Get ready,” he said, his expression turning serious. “We’re going to fight our way out of here.”
I felt a rush of adrenaline, but doubt crept in. “What if we can’t? What if they catch us?”
“Then we’ll face it together,” he replied, his eyes locking onto mine. “You’re not alone in this.”
As the door began to creak open, I knew our time was running out. I took a deep breath, ready to face whatever came next, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that everything was about to change.
“Emily,” Vincenzo said, his voice low and intense. “Whatever happens, remember that I’m here for you.”
Just then, the door swung open, and a group of werewolves stormed in, their eyes filled with hostility.
“Alpha! What are you doing?” one of them shouted.
Vincenzo stepped in front of me, ready to fight. “I won’t let you take her!”
“Stand down!” the leader barked, his voice echoing in the room. “You have no idea what you’re risking!”
I felt my heart pound as the tension reached its peak, and I realized I had to make a choice. Would I stay with Vincenzo and fight, or would I run for my life?
“Emily!” Vincenzo called, his eyes pleading. “What do you want to do?”Chapter Two
Vincenzo led me through the dark woods, my heart racing as I struggled to keep up. I had so many questions, but there wasn’t time to ask. He stopped at a large clearing where a pack of werewolves gathered, their eyes wide with surprise as they noticed us.
“What is this?” one of them growled, his voice low and threatening.
Vincenzo stepped forward, his presence commanding. “This is Emily. She has come from the rogue pack.”
The group was silent for a moment, taking in my appearance. I could feel their eyes on me, studying me closely. Whispers began to ripple through the crowd.
“She’s beautiful,” one of the she-wolves said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “Too beautiful to be just food for a rogue.”
“What do you think she’ll be used for?” another asked, skepticism lacing his tone.
I felt a rush of panic. “What do they mean by food?” I whispered to Vincenzo, my voice trembling.
“Don’t worry,” he replied, his gaze steady. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
But even as he spoke, I could see the unease in his eyes. The pack was buzzing with questions, and I could feel their tension mounting. I was an outsider here, and I didn’t know what they wanted from me.
Vincenzo led me into a large, dimly lit building at the edge of the clearing. Inside, the atmosphere was tense, filled with the scent of sweat and uncertainty. I was taken to a room and left alone, the door closing with a heavy thud behind me.
I sat on the edge of the bed, trying to calm my racing heart. The room was bare, with only a small window letting in a sliver of light. I felt trapped and scared, the weight of my situation pressing down on me.
A few moments later, the door creaked open, and a young woman stepped inside. She looked nervous, her hands wringing together as she approached me.
“I’m Maria,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m here to help you.”
I stared at her, unsure of what to say. “Help me? Why would you want to help me?”
Maria glanced around, making sure no one was listening. “I’ve heard what they plan to do to you. They’re going to kill you tomorrow.”
My heart dropped. “What? Why?”
“Because you’re a rogue,” she explained, her eyes filled with concern. “They think you’re a threat. But I can help you escape.”
“Why would you do that?” I asked, still feeling skeptical. “What’s in it for you?”
“I have my reasons,” she replied, her voice trembling. “But I can’t explain right now. Just trust me.”
I wanted to believe her, but something held me back. I remembered Vincenzo’s promise to protect me. “What about Vincenzo? He said he would keep me safe.”
Maria shook her head. “He may mean well, but he’s part of this pack. They’ll do what they have to do to survive. You’re in danger here.”
I felt torn, my mind racing with confusion. “What should I do?”
“Follow me,” Maria urged, moving toward the door. “We don’t have much time. I know a way out.”
I hesitated, glancing back toward the door where Vincenzo had left me. I felt a pull to stay, but deep down, I knew I had to make a choice. I couldn’t stay here and risk being killed.
“Okay,” I finally said, forcing myself to stand. “Let’s go.”
Maria opened the door slowly, peering out into the hallway. “It’s clear. Follow me.”
We moved quietly through the dimly lit corridors, my heart pounding in my chest. Every shadow seemed to whisper danger, and I felt like we were being watched. Maria led me through a maze of rooms, her movements swift and silent.
As we approached a back exit, I heard voices coming from a nearby room. I froze, my instincts kicking in.
“Wait,” I whispered. “What if they see us?”
Maria nodded, her expression serious. “We need to be quick.”
Just as we were about to slip through the door, a figure stepped out of the shadows. It was Vincenzo, his eyes wide with surprise.
“Emily!” he exclaimed, rushing toward us. “What are you doing?”
I felt a rush of relief mixed with fear. “I Maria said I was in danger. She wants to help me escape.”
Vincenzo’s expression darkened. “You can’t trust her. She’s part of the pack.”
Maria stepped forward, her voice strong. “I’m trying to save her, Vincenzo! You don’t understand what they plan to do!”
Vincenzo looked between us, his eyes filled with conflict. “You don’t have to do this, Emily. Stay with me. I can protect you.”
I felt my heart race as I faced him. “But what if you can’t? What if they come for me?”
“Then we’ll fight them together,” he said, determination in his voice. “You belong here. I won’t let them hurt you.”
Maria shook her head, frustration showing on her face. “They won’t hesitate to kill her, Vincenzo! You know that! You can’t keep her safe forever!”
Tension crackled in the air as I stood between them, torn. I wanted to trust Vincenzo, but the fear of what was to come loomed over me.
“Emily,” Vincenzo said, stepping closer. “Choose me. Trust me.”
I looked into his intense eyes, feeling his weighty promise of protection. But then I turned to Maria, who was desperate to save me.
“Please, Emily,” Maria pleaded. “You have to come with me now. It’s the only way to survive.”
The choice hung in the air, heavy and thick. I could feel the clock ticking down to my fate. I had to decide.
“Emily, please,” Vincenzo said, his voice softer now. “Don’t run from me.”
I took a deep breath, my heart racing as I faced the unknown. Would I choose the safety of the pack, or the uncertain freedom that Maria promised?
“Tomorrow is too late,” Maria urged, her eyes pleading. “We have to go now!”
As the weight of my decision pressed down on me, I realized that no matter what I chose, my life would never be the same.
Just then, the door behind us burst open, and a group of werewolves stormed in, their eyes filled with anger.
“Get her!” one of them shouted.
I gasped, my heart racing as the weight of the moment crashed down on me. I had to choose now.
“Emily!” Vincenzo shouted, reaching for me. “Don’t go!”
