SARAPHINA'S POV

I stared down at my grandfather's body, watching the rain wash his blood into the garden soil below. My chest heaved with each breath. I'd done it. I'd actually killed him.

My legs gave out. I sank to the wet balcony floor, back pressed against the railing. Reality crashed into me like a tidal wave. I'd just murdered my grandfather. The realization punched through me, leaving me gasping.
