We left the East Wing together.

Kael locked the doors behind us ,what was left of them, the splintered wood and bent iron a testament to what I'd done with a bronze bust and too much adrenaline and walked me to his suite without speaking. Not my guest quarters. His suite. He opened the door and stood aside and the gesture was so different from the last time he'd brought me here, when he'd locked me inside like a prisoner, that I almost didn't recognize it.

"You should sleep," he said.

"So ...
