Aurora's POV
"I don't know but it's definitely something he couldn't find in you."
I could not stop replying to what that dirty little warlock had said to me, that's a worthless thing at the very bottom of the barrel speaking to me.
How dare she?!
Even when I was a little everyone knew that I was meant to be the luna, women as old as my mother would greet me first when they met me. They understood that very soon I would be in a position and rank that carried above all of theirs and it was better to get in my good graces before then.
Now this trashy warlock had all the audacity in the world to look me in my eyes and say that. The poison I put in her food should have incapacitated her for days and since the lunar fortification right could only be held on a full moon then everything would have been dragged over to the next month.
That was my absolute full proof plan so imagine my shock when that pit stinking warlock showed up to the test for the day only complaining of a stomach ache.
I went straight to the kitchen to fished out the maid who I had given the instruction to poison her.
The stupid maid fell on her knees crying so hard that it did not start coming out from her nose.
"Lady Aurora you have to believe me, I poured everything in that bottle over her meal and while I was attending to the table bringing things like drinks and standing by in case they needed anything she ate most of the meal I saw it with my own eyes..."
"Could it have been switched with Karl 's food?" I said with a dread in my voice. He actually seems to be fond of the rat that he brought into the pack.
The maid kept insisting that she had not switched the meals. I was forced to believe her because if that's stupid woman knew she was being poisoned she would have not eaten the entire meal, she did and even ran into her bathroom to throw up from what the maid was telling me.
I dismissed the servant and came to a conclusion at that moment.
So far it seems like I've been playing around.
I sank into my cushioned chair, I looked around the guest room that was not befitting of my status. But I was just putting up with it for the meantime, convincing myself that it was just a temporary start for me.
Now back to that warlock.
It seems like I have been beating around the bush.
Perhaps before I did not take her too seriously at all I had assumed that after the first test she would immediately collapse into tears and beg not to continue with the rest then I would take that piece of information over to the council no matter how badly Karl wanted her to be his Luna it would not be possible if she herself is not complete the most basic rites.
Then again those weren't the preparation for the rites.
Her actual training was supposed to be a series of meditation, etiquette training and everything of the like.
I had intentionally amplified and created my own test hoping that each one would have her returning back in tears, begging to be free and yet no matter how hard I tried she would return each and every time asking what the next test was.
"That aggravating wench!" I said slamming my clenched fist into the arm of my chair, "why won't she just quit? Why can't she make this easy for me and just give up?!"
I got up and walked over to the fireplace to warm myself. Just then a bright idea brighter than the flames before me popped into my mind.
I had been generous enough to give her a chance to quit several of them in fact but since she has decided to remain a thorn in my flesh then it is only right that I rip out that thorn and her miserable existence once and for all.
••••••••••••••••••••
"So I'm supposed to dance around the fire?" She asked in that stupid voice of hers. It was an ear scratching sound that I would not have to endure for much longer.
"Yes this is the dance...." I said making up something ridiculous on the spot.
The other girls that were gathered here all laughed behind her .
I explained the rest of the made up routine.
First I gave her a concoction mixed with random herbs and alcohol. It was served in a glass bottle. She drank most of it and just to sell the lie the rest of us took tiny sips.
She stood up and immediately I could see the wobble in her steps and smiled to myself.
She steadied her legs and began to dance. I was trying so hard to maintain a neutral face when she began to dance. Her movements were getting sloppier and she was getting closer to the fire that started at the base of a mountain.
She was taking too long to fall into the fire herself so I got the other girls to stand up and we all began to dance with her but I was slowly approaching her from behind to 'accidentally' push her and make her fall into the flame. With a wide smile in my face, I pushed her.
