I drop my phone quickly and glance at my door while hoping my mom falls right asleep. I don’t want her coming to check on me.

Next, I take off my glasses and reach for my contact lenses.

My phone still vibrates on the bed. I stare at it as my heart races.

He’s in his bathroom…

Oh, Sophia. You can say no.

But with trembling hands, I take my AirPods out of their case and plug them into my ears.

I pick up my phone, sink under the sheet, and answer.
