Alexander’s POV

“Sophia?” I call out, moving without a thought. “I’ll catch up,” I say to Scott.

“Sure. See you at the gathering.”

“Alexander?” Her tiny croak travels to my ears as her legs come out first, dangling from the seat.

I pull the door wider and go around it to see her yawning and scratching her left eye. Her purse is on the floor of the car. Her jacket is in her lap. Her veil hangs crookedly behind her head. Strands of hair are stuck in her mouth.
