Alexander’s POV

“Did you come with your antidepressant?” Dimitri worries behind me as we stroll out of the lounge.

I nod, taking deep breaths and rubbing a palm over my chest. My steps are lazy. My jaw is taut. My hair covers my eyes. I halt in my tracks at the sight of Barbara pacing near a wall, fidgeting with her phone in her grip and rubbing her belly.

Her eyes lift to mine, and she freezes, wearing her worry like a gown. “A–alex?”
