I drag in a breath. And with a tightening of my jaw, I lift my legs again and hook them around her left leg. She joins the hook immediately and chuckles.

A smile pushes on her lips when she meets my eyes. I force a smile in return, working my head for an excuse, a lie, anything to ensure she doesn’t suspect a thing. She’s tipsy, but aware.
