“What are you two talking about without me?” Alexander asks, searching my gaze before flicking his eyes to Dimitri. I swallow and clench my fists. He comes close, puts his arms around my shoulders, and pulls me to himself. I wrap my arms around his frame.

And Dimitri says, “About that thing I told you—”

“No.” Alexander silences him, stretching a hand out as he breaks into a chuckle.
