Grace's POV

The door clicked shut behind Hunter and my father, leaving me alone with my mother. I was surprised and pleased he’d read me so well, knowing I needed to do this alone.

The silence stretched between us, thick and suffocating. I could feel her working herself up getting ready to attack. This time I was ready.
