The door slammed open and a loud gasp came from behind me as the nurse from earlier hurried to Ben and immediately started comforting him.

“Maybe you could come back some other time, Luna,” she said helplessly, patting his back as he sobbed on her shoulder, “I don’t think it’s a good time right now.”

I pulled back my outstretched hand and swallowed, “you’re right,” I tried to smile but it felt wrong on my face, “maybe some other time then.”
