THE HIDDEN MAPThe morning after the mountain was quiet. Too quiet. Demetrius hadn't spoken to me since he walked away in the dark. He was busy with his maps and his generals, his face like a wall of granite. I stayed in the corner of the large library in the Citadel, trying to make myself small.

The library was a cold place. The shelves were tall, reaching up into the shadows where the light of the torches couldn't follow. Every time I breathed, I could see a little cloud of mist.
