"Hi, I'm Matthew Sullivan, just call me Matthew, I'm the one who will be taking you to the hospital," Matthew extended his hand to Anna who immediately greeted him warmly.
"Hi, Matthew! I'm Anna, okay I'll be ready soon!" Anna shouted, she turned around nodding at Karen, Eve, and Lucy then hurried out of the kitchen without a word. She didn’t like pretending to be nice to people who didn’t respect her.
"Umm okay Anna, I'll be waiting at the main door," Matthew said, a little nervous. He couldn't hide his admiration for Anna. "Okay," Anna said, then rushed into the room to change and get her handbag.
As she was walking hurriedly to the main door, she accidentally bumped into Daniel who seemed to have just returned from outside.
"Where are you going?" Daniel asked as his eyes met Anna's.
"To the hospital, sir," Anna replied politely, taking a few steps back so she wouldn’t be too close to him.
Daniel frowned, "For what?" he asked again. He had never been too concerned about other people's business before.
"My father is having surgery today," Anna tried to avoid Daniel's intense gaze.
"Oh," Daniel muttered curtly. Anna nodded politely, then continued on her way. But suddenly, "Anna!" Daniel's voice stopped her. Anna turned around in surprise, "Yes sir?"
"Good luck with the surgery..." Daniel said, sincerity in his eyes as he spoke. Anna smiled a little, "Thank you."
Before leaving the room, Anna looked up at the three CCTV cameras in the hallway that led to the main door. Right now, Rebecca was probably watching her. Ever since she signed an agreement with Rebecca, her life would never be the same again...
Matthew honked the car horn twice, "Anna! Here!" shouted Matthew from the open car window.
"You can sit in the back if you want," Matthew said as Anna opened the front door. Anna shook her head, "You're not my driver and I'm not your boss, I'm more comfortable here. Is that okay?" asked Anna.
"Yeah, that's fine," Matthew said, clearing his throat softly and starting the car with a little nervousness. "Are you all right, Matthew?" asked Anna, seeing Matthew's hands trembling. "Yeah, I'm fine," Matthew said without daring to look at her. He stomped on the gas pedal slowly and after that, the car sped away from the very massive Morgans mansion.
Anna looked at the road she was passing. For some reason, her chest felt very tight all of a sudden. She closed her eyes, then inhaled and exhaled slowly. Matthew glanced at her worriedly, "You couldn't breathe?" he asked flatly.
Anna shook her head, "Nope, I'm fine, I just..." Anna was silent, should she tell him to ease the burden a little?
"Forget it," she whispered finally. Matthew probably didn’t want to hear the story.
Matthew frowned, "You can say anything to me, just think of me as a statue or a stone or wall—whatever," Matthew said in a more relaxed tone.
"Really? You're not going to tell anyone else?" replied Anna, looking at Matthew with narrowed eyes suspiciously. Matthew chuckled and said lightly, "You don’t have to tell me if you don’t believe me!”
"Okay, everyone knows my story anyway, I don’t have to bother hiding it from the world," Anna muttered with a shrug.
"You and everyone in the Morgans mansion must know who I am..." Anna said, staring sadly out the window at the row of trees they passed.
"Yeah of course! You’re Anna Taylor, the girl with beautiful eyes and a charming smile," replied Matthew cheerfully. Anna snorted, "I sold my womb and I made love to my boss, what's the difference between me and a whore?" Anna chuckled, laughing at herself.
Matthew's face froze, he didn’t laugh. "You’re different," he said quietly. Anna turned her head, "What makes me different?"
Matthew shrugged, "You’re just different, just focus on your father’s recovery, don’t think about anything else," Matthew replied without turning to look at Anna.
"How did you know about my father?" asked Anna in surprise. "Even walls can talk in the Morgans," said Matthew casually.
Anna chuckled, "Well, you’re right..." she looked at Matthew from the side, "So what exactly do you do? Are you a driver? Bodyguard? Or what? Or you’re their Confidant?" Anna asked curiously.
"I do whatever I’m told," Matthew replied flatly. Anna raised an eyebrow, not believing Matthew’s words, but she chose not to ask any further.
"So how long have you worked with the Morgans?"
Matthew tilted his head, thinking, "Hmmm almost 5 years," he replied flaty.
"That means you’ve been working with Mr. Morgan before he married?" Anna became interested in their conversation. Matthew nodded, "Yeah, you could say that," he replied, keeping his eyes on the road in front of him.
"So are the Morgans always stiff like that? I mean, they are a really weird couple..." Anna said with a frown.
Matthew chuckled, "You think so?" He sounded like he didn’t want to talk about his boss.
Anna sneered, "You’ll never speak badly about your boss, will you? Well then, don’t mind my question," Anna let out, waving her hand.
Matthew laughed, showing a row of white teeth. "Okay, I’ll try to answer as best I can. Just ask!" Matthew said. He didn’t know why he was so happy to talk to Anna.
Anna smiled widely,
"I don’t want to ask, I want you to tell me about the Morgans," Anna said, blinking a few times. Matthew laughed, "Hmmm I don’t know where to start..."
"Did they marry because they loved each other?" Anna asked curiously. "Hmm, no," Matthew answered simply.
Anna’s eyes widened, "I thought so! So their marriage was planned by their parents?" Anna squealed, staring at Matthew’s face, which looked very symmetrical.
"Hmmm no," Matthew replied, shaking his head. Anna pursed her lips, "I don’t understand..." she muttered desperately.
Matthew smiled, "Why are you so curious? Could it be that you have something for Daniel?" Matthew asked without looking up.
Anna snorted, then laughed, "Seriously! Never!" she said, turning her face away so Matthew couldn’t see the pink blush on her cheeks.
"Long story short, Daniel, who was urged by his parents to get married immediately, met Rebecca at the right time, as if Rebecca had been after him for a long time," said Matthew while focusing on his steering wheel. Anna fell silent, digesting Matthew’s words.
"Hmmm, that makes sense..." mumbled Anna at last as she stared at the dashboard in front of her as if it was about to pop something. Matthew glanced at Anna’s expression, "Makes sense? What makes sense?" Matthew asked curiously.
"Their relationship is rigid and strange, it turns out that was the reason," Anna said, picturing the interaction between the Morgans couple. "Oh..." replied Matthew, who was still watching Anna’s face while occasionally looking at the street.
"Don’t even think about taking Daniel away from Rebecca..."
Matthew’s words made Anna turn around in surprise. She covered her mouth and laughed out loud, "Me? Oh my goodness! That kind of thought never even crossed my mind!" she exclaimed honestly. Well, Anna did feel a strange feeling every time she met Daniel, but that didn’t mean Anna intended to take Daniel from Rebecca.
"That’s good, happy to hear that. I just, I don’t want you to experience the kind of trouble that Laura had. Trust me it's worse than a nightmare..."
