I hadn’t been able to sleep all night, too worried about Abigail and the nightmare that she had had the night before. All I could think about while she was screaming and crying in a panic was pulling her into my lap and wrapping her up in my arms. I just wanted to make her feel safe, but clearly, I hadn’t helped.
