Rissa’s POV

The first Hunter reaches Mark and never gets past him.

He moves like fury given shape.

Claws flash. Bone cracks. A body flies sideways into two more. Another drops before I even register he moved. The sound of snarls and steel fills the basin, violent and immediate.

But all I can hear is the echo of my own words.

I was going to tell you.

Mark knows.

The truth sits between us now, huge and exposed and impossible to take back.

No time to think about it.

No time to feel it.
