“Oh my God, is she okay?” Ella asks as soon as we enter the house and runs to Riley, placing a hand on her chin to get a better look at her swollen cheek.

“She will be,” I affirm. “Please get some ice and something for the pain.”

Riley grimaces and looks away. She has been silent during the entire ride, and I have done the same. I don't usually let anger guide me. I usually wait to calm down, but I admit it took me a while this time.
