Chapter 1 Happy Engagement

It was raining heavily in autumn in Linghai City.

The hotel's guest room, however, was warm.

Shao Qing turned over and pulled up the quilt. Through her blurred eyes, she saw Ji Zisheng coming out of the bathroom with a bath towel around his lower body. His abdominal muscles were well-defined and extremely beautiful..

Thinking of last night's warmth, she couldn't help laughing.

Ji Zisheng discovered it keenly.

He bent down and rubbed Shao Qing's head, "Are you awake? What are you giggling about?" Shao Qing asked in a cold and gentle voice.

Shao Qing propped herself up with her arms, and the quilt slipped off her fair shoulder.

She tucked the hair on her forehead behind her head and then rested her chin on her hand as she happily watched the man smoking next to her. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were sparkling.

"Mr. Ji looks quite charming when you smoke." Shao Qing said.

"Women are also very sexy when they smoke. Do you want to have a try?" Ji Zisheng asked.

Shao Qing turned over and leaned against him. She shook her head and said, "My mother will be angry if she knows that I smoke."

Ji Zisheng sneered, feeling a little surprised, "So you're a good girl?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he gently blew a smoke ring on Shao Qing's face.

Shao Qing choked and coughed repeatedly. She could see the corners of Ji Zisheng's mouth curling up in the dense smoke.

She said reproachfully: "You're just bullying me. If it were your fiancee, Miss Shao Yu, I'd like to see if you dare to do it again?"

Ji Zisheng frowned slightly, snuffed out the cigarette in his hand, and threw himself on her.

His eyes were cold, and his voice was low and hoarse, with a hint of warning, "I told you, don't mention my personal affairs."

"I didn't want to mention it." Shao Qing shrank her body, "I just sighed that although we are both surnamed Shao, Miss Shao Yu and I are totally different."

Ji Zisheng raised his eyebrows and rubbed her chin with his fingers, "What's wrong? Are you envious of her?"

"Which woman in Linghai City doesn't envy her?" Shao Qing put her arms around his neck and softened her tone, "Only she can have you completely."

Her eyes were affectionate, shy, and frivolous.

Ji Zisheng swallowed and lowered his head to kiss her.

However, Shao Qing pressed her index finger against his lips.

She suddenly became rational and calm, as if she was facing a client she didn't want to receive, "Let's call it a day. I have to go to work."

The gun had been loaded, but the target had been lost. Ji Zisheng sat up in disappointment and said, "Aren't you working in this hotel? Why are you in such a hurry?"

Shao Qing was not in a hurry to reply. Instead, she picked up the clothes on the ground and slowly put them on one by one.

Once dressed, she sat on Ji Zisheng's lap and gazed affectionately at him, "Shouldn't I go home and change my clothes? Otherwise, my whole body was filled with your scent, and how can I focus on work?"

Ji Zisheng was no longer in the mood, and his tone became serious, "How is the engagement ceremony tonight being prepared at your hotel?"

Shao Qing lowered her eyes and then moved to the sofa next to him. She fixed the earrings on her earlobe and said, "Don't worry, Mr. Ji. I promise to give you and Miss Shao Yu an unforgettable engagement ceremony."

"It doesn't matter." Ji Zisheng lit another cigarette leisurely, "As long as nothing goes wrong."

Shao Qing looked at the handsome man in front of her, who was now exhaling smoke, and besides mocking, a hint of sympathy for Shao Yu arose within her.

How could Ji Zisheng, who cheated the night before the engagement, possibly be a faithful?

So what about a daughter of a rich family? She was still married to a hypocrite.

Shao Qing got up and walked to the door. She took off her wind coat and put it on. Then she put on her high heels and inadvertently let down a strand of hair on her forehead.

She was both charming and cute.

Ji Zisheng stared at her deeply. His gaze swept across every part of her body, as if he could see every inch of her skin through her clothes.

He couldn't help but ask: "You're leaving just like that?"

Shao Qing pretended to be confused, and then she smiled knowingly with two delicate dimples on her cheeks.

"I wish you a happy engagement!" After that, she blew him a kiss, opened the door, and left without hesitation.

She got home by taxi. Shao Qing rummaged through her bag and took out a pack of cigarettes. She lit one and put it on her mouth.

A smoking woman was sexy? She snorted. Who would smoke for sexy? It was simply out of boredom.

Shao Qing was good at dealing with all kinds of men. It was a skill that she had cultivated for years. This was the first time she had given herself up after years of cultivation.

If it weren't for the dark possessiveness in her heart, she wouldn't have touched Ji Zisheng.

She knew that this man was the last person she could touch in Linghai City.

Because Ji Zisheng's fiancée was her half-sister.

Shao Qing didn't know why the powerful Ji family would choose the marriage alliance with the Shao family. Their status was so different. But she knew that if her father hadn't abandoned his wife and daughter for his mistress, she would have been the fiancee of Mr. Ji, whom everyone was envious of.

Shao Qing put out the cigarette under her feet and said with disdain, "Ji Zisheng is just so-so. I don't care."

She turned and went upstairs, opened the door, and returned home. The smell of noodles greeted her.

Shao Qing didn't have time to take off her coat. She sat at the dining table and ate noodles, "Mom's noodles are always the most delicious. They can't compare with any delicacies!"

Mrs. Shao came out of the kitchen and sat opposite her with an unhappy face, "You didn't go home all night. Where did you go?"

Shao Qing didn't look up, "Gong Fei had a quarrel with her husband, so I went to accompany her. My phone ran out of battery, so I didn't tell you."

Obviously, Mrs. Shao didn't believe it. She frowned and said, "Xiaoqing, your father called me several times and said that he saw you drinking in a bar with some riff-raff. He was very angry and asked you to be careful."

"Mom, do you have to bring up that person to annoy me?" Shao Qing slammed her chopsticks on the table, her face darkened, "He ignored us for twenty years, and now he suddenly wants to control me? Can he?"

"No matter what, he is your father, and he is right. You aren't like a girl all day long. Who dares to marry you in the future?" Mrs. Shao said.

"I don't need anyone else to marry me!" Shao Qing got up and closed herself in the bathroom. She turned on the tap and splashed cold water on her face.

Twenty years ago, Mr. Shao drove Mrs. Shao and his five-year-old daughter Shao Qing out of the family in order to make his mistress becoming his legitimate wife.

Mrs. Shao didn't have a job, so she had to take Shao Qing to ask Mr. Shao for living expenses every month. She had been looked down upon by others.

Her stepmother and stepsister lived in the villa and had no worries about food and clothing, while Shao Qing and her mother lived in the shabby rental apartment, barely making ends meet and only those who had experienced many grievances over the years knew how much they had suffered.

This was also the most unbearable pain in Shao Qing's heart.

However, Mrs. Shao had a weak personality and was bullied all the time. She was not jealous and always spoke up for them.

Because of this, Shao Qing and her mother had quarreled with each other countless times. But when Shao Qing thought that her mother had suffered too much, she could only swallow her resentment again and again. This time, it would be the same.

She went back to her room to adjust her mood, found a suit, and got ready to go to work.

"It's raining again. Take an umbrella." Mrs. Shao handed over an umbrella.

Shao Qing took the umbrella and inadvertently glanced at the grey hair on her mother's ear. Her nose twitched.

They were indeed mother and daughter. No matter how fierce the quarrel was, they still cared about each other.

Shao Qing opened the door. Mrs. Shao seemed to be a little hesitant, but she still said: "Your sister's engagement ceremony will be held in your hotel tonight, right? Remember to help her. After all, we are a family."

Shao Qing's hand stopped at the door handle. Her eyes were with a hint of bitterness.

But she quickly hid her emotions and smiled, "I will. I will wish her a happy engagement."
