Sweet Revenge in Divorce
My father left me a $3 million inheritance when he passed away.
During our two-year marriage, my husband repeatedly transferred my money under the guise of "investments", but was actually supporting his ex-wife and son.
In the end, I was drowning in massive debt, and he simply filed for divorce.
Then he immediately got back together with his ex.
She sneered at me, "You can't blame anyone but yourself for giving away your money so willingly."
Their kid yelled at me, "Bad lady! You're the reason my mom and dad split up. Go die!"
To make sure I wouldn't be a lingering problem, my ex pushed me into oncoming traffic in a spot without security cameras.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back at the moment when my husband first asked me for money.
……………………………………
"Honey, this investment is fantastic. All my friends are in on it - it's guaranteed profit. I just need you to cover half of it. You'll get half the shares too," Ian Evans's voice echoed in my ears again.
I felt dizzy. Wasn't I just hit by a speeding truck?
Looking around carefully, I was still in my house.
Ian's current bootlicking expression made me nauseous. Being this close to him made my skin crawl.
Without thinking, I slapped him across the face.
With all my anger, using every ounce of strength I had.
Ian stood there stunned, holding his cheek.
My palm stung from the impact - that's when it truly hit me. I had really come back.
My expression must have been terrifying because Ian asked with a hurt look, "Honey, what's wrong?"
Struggling to control my emotions, I asked him to repeat how much he needed.
"Five hundred thousand. They said they won't take new investors after a few days."
Now I remembered - this was Ian's first scam amount.
The so-called "investment" was actually for buying a house in a good school district for his son. The deadline? Just the last day of the property's promotional pricing.
In my past life, I believed him. After giving him that money, he kept making excuses for more until my last inheritance dollar was gone and all my credit cards were maxed out. Then Ian immediately threw divorce papers in my face.
The papers claimed he couldn't tolerate my massive debt to the family and demanded I leave with nothing.
When I went to the police, they said all investments were voluntary. The most they could do was give Ian a verbal warning.
As we left the police station, he smirked, "Stop fighting it. Just divorce me already - I'm waiting to remarry my ex-wife."
When I yelled at him in anger, he pushed me into traffic where there were no cameras.
After death, I learned Ian and his ex had never really divorced. They just used me as their cash cow for their luxurious lifestyle.
Because the truck was speeding, the insurance company even paid Ian a huge settlement.
As for me? I didn't even get a grave. My ashes were thrown in a trash can while I watched Ian enjoy family life with his ex and son.
