Chapter 1

Diana 's POV

“Cof, cof, cof,” I yanked the duvet off my head when I couldn't hold it anymore.

I picked up my handkerchief that was on the bedside table to cover my mouth. My lungs were burning from coughing for so long.

I squatted and rummaged through the drawers to find my drugs. I was still coughing violently which can lead to a headache.

But that was the least of my worries now, I don't want my parents or sister to see me in this state.

“Cof, cof, cof,” beads of sweat were on my forehead as I continued searching.

‘Where could it be?’ I wondered with a scrunched face.

I stood up when the cough subsided a little, I gulped down the glass of water on my table to calm my nerves.

“Where is it?” I racked my brain and my eyes fell on the handkerchief that I used to cover my mouth.

My heart skipped a bit when I sighted the red stain on it. My lips trembled as I brought it up, I felt as if my heart had been squeezed.

“No, no, no,” I mumbled with my blurred vision as I fell on the floor. I am dying everyday.

“Ahh,” I hugged my legs and wept silently in between my thighs. I live in a world that was full of darkness, no ounce of love from anyone.

I wanna know how it feels to be loved.

I felt as if my heart had been ripped off.

I suffer alone. Got parents that hate me to their bones.

Why?

I don't have the answers to that. I knew I had been trying to prove myself to them, but I wasn't worthy enough. And my elder sister, Arianna, isn't helping either.

“Ah.. hic,” I kept crying silently in agony.

My heart was pounding heavily and my stomach twisted. I paused momentarily before I hastily stood up and rushed to the bathroom.

“Purr,” I vomited out all the contents that were in my stomach. I clutched the edge of the sink and continued to park a tiger.

I held my stomach when I felt nothing was coming out anymore. I am Diana Harrison, 22-year-old, the youngest daughter of the Harrison's family.

My parents see me as a disgrace to them, due to the fact that I was dull, weak and naïve. Unlike my more outgoing elder sister, Arianna, I wanted nothing but for them to love me.

I guess it will just continue to be one of my wishes that would never come true. I rinsed my face with water and washed my mouth.

I felt weak but I had to leave to go get my drugs. I left the bathroom and glanced at the wall clock, it was past 3 PM in the afternoon. My parents would be home a few hours to this time.

I wiped my tears and swiftly changed my clothes. I picked up a black-colored handkerchief and carried my handbag before leaving the room.

I climbed down the stairs hastily and was more than glad when I found it to be empty. I marched to the front door and opened the it, just to bump into my sister, Arianna.

“Ahhw,” we both whined, rubbing our foreheads.

“I am sorry. I didn't mean for that…” she interrupted me with her hiss.

“I don't need your pitiful gaze here. It looks fake and pathetic!” She snapped before bumping into my shoulder and stormed to her room.

I sighed before exiting the house. I flagged down a taxi and hopped in. I gave the address to the driver and put on a nose mask that was in my bag.

This was to prevent anyone from seeing me entering the pharmacy. We arrived after a short while, I paid for the transport and went in.

I met a fair-skinned man in a white round neck shirt, he greeted me warmly and I responded.

“Good day, ma'am. What would you like to buy?” He asked me.

I pulled out my phone and showed the picture of the drugs I wanted. Frown lines formed on his forehead before he darted his head up and gazed at me with utter shock.

“Please, sir. I need to go,” I said in a pleading tone, looking behind me.

I don't want any camera to spot me. My family is one of the most influential families in Australia. He nodded unconvinced and went to bring me the drugs.

I paid with my card and thanked him before leaving but he held my hand. I raised my brows in confusion.

“You need to visit the hospital…” I interrupted him.

“I know right. Thanks for your concern,” I smiled, even when it was hidden under my mask.

I left the pharmacy hastily only to bump into another person again. I shut my eyes closed to welcome the impact but then, I felt a cold palm grip my wrists and yanked me up, then I collided with the person's hard chest.

My eyes widened when I saw a pair of gray eyes, boring down into mine. He was putting on a visor cap so I didn't get to see him properly.

“Are you okay?” He asked me warmly and for unknown reason, I was blushing.

“Y-Yeah… thanks,” I stuttered and was about to leave when he held my wrists again.

I turned to look at him, he released my wrists and bent to pick up my handkerchief that fell.

“I guess this is yours,” he said with a polite smile and I collected it with the same smile.

“Yes, thanks a lot,” I acknowledged and walked away. His cologne was intoxicating and I felt like inhaling it once more.

“It seems you are running a temperature. It's important to take care of yourself and address this fever promptly," I turned when I heard him say.

He just concluded that I have a fever. I didn't respond to him and he continued.

“I recommend that you take it easy and get plenty of rest. Make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, water,” he said and I nodded with a smile.

“I will make sure of it. Thanks a lot sir,” I bowed slightly with a blossom heart. Someone just cared for me after a long time.
