The Billionaire's Runaway Bride
A moment of truth.
Jenna's point of view
The laughter coming from Damon's office reminded me of what I would never be to him, his confidant. Instead it reminded me of what I'll continuously be,his anchor in bed. I should have gotten used to it by now, we've been married for six months and it shouldn't sting anymore but I couldn't help feeling tired, angry, used and helpless.
I made my way into the office and immediately Liana's face lost its glow. “What are you doing here?”Damon asked and I couldn't stop myself from focusing on their intimate position. Liana had her legs placed on Damon's thighs.
Damon had a look of guilt for some seconds before replacing it with irritation. Of course, that's the reaction I always get from him whenever I arrive unannounced.
“It's nice to see you again, Jenna. We should have lunch together. What do you say?” I tried to hide my irritation and anger because I couldn't bear to embarrass Damon in front of Liana. She remains his employee and his ex-girlfriend.
" I wanted to do a little surprise, I made reservations at 'hotel de blue' and I wanted to do something special because of your recent achievements in the company." I said and immediately he closed his eyes before opening them to look at me.
"I'm really sorry I should have told you about it, you shouldn't have heard about it from grandpa." he said but I knew he was just trying to keep the pretense long enough for Liana to leave his office.
Immediately Liana left,he grabbed my arm forcefully and shoved me towards the wall, away from the window. " What do you think you are doing showing up in my office unannounced and expecting me to give you a warm welcome?"
" I did not ask for much Damon, I have every right to give my husband a little surprise and make him happy don't you think?" I asked but he left my arm abruptly and walked over to the window.
" Whatever you saw just now when you came in, make sure you bury it deep in your head. I must not hear a word about it outside these four walls.”
“Of course.” I whispered, tears burning the back of my eyes,my palms itch to leave their imprint on his face but I know better.
A soft knock on the door followed by Liana carrying a tray of black bitter coffee made my head spin. Damon practically shoved the fact that he's allergic to black coffee in my face.
He claimed it gives him allergies like skin burn and now…..this?
“You look surprised, may I know why?” Liona asked, her eyes darting from me to Damon. I was perplexed,I didn't know what to say or how to react.
“You take black coffee?” I found myself asking,my throat tightened,my fist folded into small balls, the tears threatened to pour out any time and my chest pounded so hard I could hear it beating like a party drum.
Liana moved forward, her stride a little bent and the next minute, the cup came crashing down as she went down with it, making it seem like I made her trip.
My mouth hung open and when I stared at Damon,he has a look of disgust on his face.
“I'm really sorry,I wasn't careful enough.” She said lowly, her face twisted in a painful way but I know why. She wanted him to do something and as if on impulse,he walked forward and threw his handkerchief to me.
“Wipe the floor.” He turned around and helped Liana up,his eyes tender, not caring if I was watching or not.
He assisted her in walking over to the door and before they stepped out,he turned to look at me. “We're gonna have a long talk when I get home.”
“What are you thinking about?” Jessie asked as she poured some orange juice into the glass of ice. “You look so moody,I could swear you were beaten up.” That put a smile on my face.
My twin sister Jessica and I share a very loving bond, we basically do everything together and nothing can stand between us.
“It's Liana.” I said and she paused, her eyebrows were raised while she waited for whatever I wanted to spill.
“Don't keep me waiting, tell me.” She urged, taking her seat immediately. A small smile made it's way to my face,no matter how sad I am or how low my mood is,she always has a way of making everything good.
“I went to his office, met them in an intimate position and he didn't give a damn, he doesn't care about me.” I was tearing up and I hated myself for it.
This marriage is for business and nothing more, growing attached to him wasn't part of the plan.
“I can beat him up,you know.” She said and I chuckled. No. She wasn't kidding. She once shave one part of her bully's hair when she eventually stood up for herself.
“We shouldn't do what will make Damon and his family turn against us, Grandpa will be furious.” She scoffed and rolled her eyes.
“If that's the case, you should sleep over,I'm sure you don't want to go back and see his face tonight.”
“Unfortunately,I have to.” My phone beeped just once and it piqued my interest.
I picked my phone and opened the message. “What happened today was just a warning, he doesn't love you. BACK OFF!”
I needed no one to tell me who sent it and why she did.
“Liana.” I muttered bitterly while Jessie took my phone and shook her head. “I feel like strangling her,but I do not want to go to jail so I'm sorry sissy, we'll have to find another way.”
My phone rang and this time my heart began to beat really fast. It's Damon.
I picked and placed the phone on my ear.
“Come out right now,I'm waiting in the car.”
