Tribreed Alpha Contract Mate
Just one more step, that was all she needs to take to end this miserable life. She stared down the height of this cliff and took a deep breath, she will jump down this cliff and everything would be over.
She had watched everything and everyone she had ever loved, taken from her in just one go. And she suddenly moved from a happy Luna, to a scorned and detested Luna in the eyes of her husband and the entire pack.
Though she desperately wanted to end this miserable life, the idea still brought tears to her eyes.
She closed her eyes, ready to jump off. Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed her and she was pulled back from the cliff. When she opened her eyes, she saw her husband’s beta, Dante, her own cousin looking at her in resentment.
“Luna Selene, you must return to the Packhouse, now.” He told her coldly, and the Pack warriors came around her, hoping to escort her back.
Selene closed her eyes bitterly, the pain rushing through her. They all hated her now, but yet she was not allowed to die.
Just a month ago, everything had been perfect. She was Luna, everyone loved and respected; and her husband, Seth, the Alpha? He had adored her. He had been her first love, the one she risked everything to be with, and to her, it had been worth it.
They had been happy, and so in love, until just a month ago, when he found his fated mate. Seth met Julia, his fated mate on a trip he was never supposed to attend.
A war broke out at the border, and he had to leave with his warriors to defend the Pack’s borders, that had been the mistake she had made, staying back had been. But it was true and obvious that she wouldn’t have been able to stop what had happened, she was in no way comparable to a fated mate.
She could remember the excoriating pain she felt when he had betrayed her, the pain had been none other than she had experienced, and somehow, she knew that her husband had betrayed her.
She tried to reach him, to get an explanation or even an apology. She had been willing to forgive him, to put everything behind them and move forward. However, the only explanation she got from him, was him returning back to the Pack, with another woman in his arms.
Suddenly, the man who had once loved her dearly, had nothing but resentment for her, and the new woman in his heart was now Julia.
His Beta, Dante, opened the door to usher her back to her room. Even though he as everyone else tried to appear respectful in her presence, she knew too well what they truly felt for her. No one respected a woman left by her husband, in their opinion, she was not good enough, especially when they had been made to believe cruel lies spread against her.
Selene ran herself a hot bath, trying not to worry about everything happening all at once. She had lost her chance now; she would certainly find another way to leave. She knew she deserved better than ending her life in cold blood.
Just as she was almost done with her shower, she heard someone push open her door, and then it shut again. Through the steamy vapour of the hot bath, she could see through to know who entered.
After Seth found his fated mate, he had not visited her, even for one night. Whenever the saw each other was during a family gathering, or Pack council meeting, and sometimes in the house. He had fully moved into another house with his new mate, and there was no need to meet with her anymore.
Selene quickly took hold of her bathrobe, covering her body with it, as she felt herself Panic. She opened the bathroom, and walked into the bedroom, but was stunned to see Seth seated comfortable on the bed which had once been theirs.
She frowned, pausing there at the door. “What are you doing here?” Her voice was hard, and she didn’t mind.
As soon as his eyes settled on her, his eyes instantly darkened. He stood up swiftly and walked towards her in fast hard steps. She didn’t have enough time to back away and run back to the bathroom to hide, especially when she caught sight of the murderous glint in his eyes.
In an instant, he grabbed her by the neck, and pulled her to the wall, choaking her. Selene began to struggle, digging her nails into his hand, but he only seemed to tighten his hold over her neck. Her eyes were almost bulging out, and she was struggling to get air.
Tears began to flow from her eyes, and she tried to speak, but she couldn’t make a sound through the choaking. She saw all her life events flash before her eyes, the lovely days of her life, her happy moments with her parents, her friends, and the man she had always loved. But now, it seemed it was all over, and she was finally going to be killed by the hands of the man who she had loved all her life.
“Seth…….” She struggled to call out in a choaked whisper, the tears dropping from her eyes, but his eyes darkened even more. It seemed he had nothing more left for her, but hate and rage.
Just when she thought she was finally going to die, his grip on her loosened, and he let go of her neck carelessly, and she came crashing to the ground, gasping for air. Her heart was pounding deep inside her chest, and her wolf, Ellie, seemed to be in the same state as she was.
She continued to cough, while gasping for air and holding unto her neck for dear life. She couldn’t speak, let alone ask why he had brutally treated her like that. Did he find out that she tried to kill herself again, but he never cared before now, why would he care now?
“How dare you try to kill Julia?” His suddenly called out, the hate and rage evident in his voice. The hate she saw in his eyes was enough to make her retreat from fear, afraid that he would try to strangle her again.
‘Kill Julia?’ She thought in fear, she hadn’t seen him or his fated mate for weeks now, and it had remained that way.
“I didn’t,” She cried out, “I had been out on a walk, you can ask Dante.” She told him, another tear rushing down her cheek. She hated him terribly for making her feel this way. The way he treated her was nothing she had imagined, and she had been willing to let him go, to start a new life on her own, but he had been so obsessed with losing her Pack, that he had held unto her, refusing to let go.
“You liar,” He said furiously, “You sent a maid to poison Julia’s food. The Maid confessed that you sent her, how could you be so devious?” He asked her cruelly, taking another step towards her as though he wanted to hit her or choak her again, but he stopped shot, still panting from rage.
Selene was in a state of panic. “I didn’t ask anyone to kill Julia, I would never do something like that, you should know that.”
Seth scoffed. “I am only letting you off this one time because of our agreement, you try to hurt her again, and I will feed your flesh to the birds.” With that, he turned away, slamming the door shut as he exited her room.
Selene sat there on the ground, unable to get up as more tears began to fall from her eyes. She had the faintest idea of what was going on, she knew for sure what Julia had been up to since she arrived in the Pack.
Seth had never wanted to treat her badly at first after returning with Julia, he on the contrary had begged her to stay by his side, and was willing to treat her well as long as she would accept Julia fully.
But everything changed, Julia began to get to the minds of everyone. She had a way with words, and her perfect fake outward image was able to enough to convince everyone that she was the good one, while she slowly poisoned their minds against Selene, including Seth’.
He stopped coming to seeing her or speaking with her, and when she tried to bring up the case of the divorce, he instantly became enraged.
“I always knew you were up to no good. You’ve always wanted to have the Pack, but its mine now and so are you. You will die by my side.” He had replied sternly.
The Bloodmoon Pack had been a gift from her parents after she married him. She was their only child, and the soon to be Alpha of Bloodmoon Pack, before she got mated to Seth.
Seth was already the Alpha of Winterwood Pack then, and so the two Packs were merged to become one. That was why he didn’t want to let her go, for fear that she would take the Bloodmoon Pack with her, since they were the source of their Pack’s riches and power.
And Julia did a good job turning everyone against her, so there was no one on her side.
She didn’t get up, Selene lay quietly on the cold earth, and for the first time, she wished she had listened to everyone that had warned her against merging the Packs. Maybe things would have been different now, and it would have been easier to let him go, but now she was trapped, between his obsession of power, control and his love.
She was nothing, not now, and maybe just not yet. But this time around she was going to strike back.
