Him again!

I stood in the middle of the conferential room, shaking uncomfortably while staring straight ahead with a forced smile on my face. My heart banged loudly against the thought in my head.

' Why the fuck is he here!?' I screamed repeatedly in my head, tightening my grip on the folder in my hands.

I looked from each of the other three interviewers to the next anxiously, trying as much as I could to avoid meeting gaze with that one person.

I could feel a cold sweat trickling down my face at the instance, but that was the least of my worries right now. At the moment, the only thing I wanted so badly was to rather be swallowed by the ground and to forget ever reappearing before him.

' Wait, maybe he doesn't recognize me...?' I tried to convince myself, but the moment I peered a gaze at him, the forced smile on my face quickly faded. Our eyes met and I instantly froze.

So much that I couldn't even bear to look away from him as I just held a terrified stare at him.

Seeing the wicked grin on his face, I knew that I was simply in for it.

And I couldn't help but start to really panic at this newfound realization.

I have gotten myself in one big, deep, stinky, hell of a mess!

" Ms. Daugherty, is something the matter?"

I shuddered out of my panicky daze when I heard him ask in a deep calm voice; the sarcasm in his tone clear and intent.

Although he sat there calmly, pointing at the chair in the middle of the room still with a smug grin on his devilishly manly face, it only felt like a beckoning towards doom to me!

I thought about leaving, but I figured I'd only cause more trouble for myself. After all, he must have had prior knowledge that I'd be coming and had patiently waited for a reason.

Since I could do nothing to refuse, I could only hope that he had no revenge planned in mind.

I simply moved to take a seat in the chair that I was pointed to by him, with my knees buckling together as I did; taking the walk of shame across the room.

Once I sat in front of them all, I was totally devastated. I felt crushed, embarrassed and ashamed at the same time at the thought that he'd expose me out here in front of everyone.

Regardless, I only hid my gaze and decided to wait for what was to come. In any case, I deserve it!

Afterall, there was no denying the fact that he wouldn't let me go scot-free... Not with that look on his face.

What's the worst he could do? Hand me over to the cops?

I know little about the law, but I could see myself handcuffed and taken into custody. Afterall, he seems to be in a managerial position of some sort here.

' I'm fucked!' I panicked the moment this thought hit me and thought to at least try to argue my case.

Just when I thought to voice out my plea, he suddenly said out loud.

" Everyone, would you mind leaving us alone for a second? I have some things to discuss with my very close friend here"

My heart sank at his words, and I could only stare up in shock. However, he stared straight back at me with the coldest glint in his eyes.

Terrified, I looked to the three other interviewers, hoping they would question his demands. But to my surprise, they only hid their faces after exchanging knowing glances, and then hesitantly stood to leave the room.

I could only watch in wallowing distress as they shut the door behind them.

Bastards!

They had no balls to stand up for me!

" Where is it?"

I was drawn back by his words, and I couldn't help but gulp in sheer fright.

" I spent it" I don't think I had ever spoken so meekly before. I lowered my head, unable to face him.

But I could tell from the heavy silence that he was annoyed. Anyone would probably be after having five hundred and twenty five bucks stolen from them, only to hear it's all gone!

Hell, I'm mad at myself now!

" Where is my wallet?" He repeated in a calm tone, which baffled me.

I couldn't help but raise my gaze to meet his, and yeah, there was only disgust in his eyes.

His expression was calm, with little to no sign of worry.

He didn't seem to care about the money!

For a moment, I was left speechless.

" Well?" He snarked a while later, his brows furrowing ever so slightly.

" I threw it out" I blurted out without thinking. It wasn't until I saw his frown deepen into disbelief that I realized what I'd done.

" You did what?!" He snapped, standing abruptly from his seat. " Are you crazy!?" I shook with guilt at his outburst.

I quickly hid my face away in embarrassment, after all, he had all the right in the world to be mad.

" I'm sorry!" I could only apologize, shriveling in.

" Sorry? Sorry? do you know just-" He sucked teeth mid-sentence, holding back on his outburst. I could tell from the finger he raised that he didn't want to hear anything from me anymore.

I respectfully maintained my right of silence.

" Where?" He pressed his palms on the table after a while, leaning forward to ask as if interrogating a criminal.

" The trash" I answered earnestly, to which he expressed an ugly frown.

I know, I know!

I expressed this self-depreciating thought with my face. I was too ashamed of myself to utter anything.

" Take me there!" He suddenly said, turning around to grab his suit that previously hung around his chair.

" Wait, now?" I wasn't even sure why I asked, but I was genuinely confused!

It's not like we're ever going to find his wallet in the trash bins I threw it in!

He flicked his suit on and tilted his head as he affirmed, "Yes..." He then moved to grab my hands to walk me out " now!"
