BETWEEN THE BILLIONAIRE BROTHERS
*Rory Westfield walked into the sleek glass tower of Stone Enterprise, her heart racing with anticipation. She had landed the job of a lifetime as a marketing strategist, but there was one crucial detail she had kept hidden: her true identity.
She came across a new worker as herself and was intrigued to know more. “Hi,” she greeted. “Hello, I am sure that you are also a new worker like me,” he asked. “Yes I'm. Well, I'm Rory,” she said. “I'm Wilson,” he said as they both exchanged pleasantries.
Wilson was a new worker in the stone enterprise; he wore ice glasses, which looked perfectly on him.
“You made a perfect point in your interview. I heard you were the best among the others,” he said.
“I worked hard towards it, and it's obvious my stars shone best for me,” Rory replied.
“So where are you headed?” Wilson asked.
“I'm going to the office; I mean the CEO's office. I think he wants to get me into my new office,” Rory replied.
“I have already been assigned to mine, and I'm going to the office I was given,” Wilson said.
“Let me get going okay before I get to run late. I heard that he was aggressive and didn't like late coming,” Rory said.
As she stepped into the elevator, she took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for the challenges ahead. Little did she know, her secrets would soon be exposed, and her future would hang in the balance. The doors slid open, and Roy stepped into a world of power and hidden agendas.
She was about to find out that in the cutthroat world of corporate politics, loyalty was a luxury she couldn't afford. As she stepped into the office of her boss, she saw Kaelan, his eyes blazing with curiosity, and he was ready to continue until she told him the truth.
“After the conference meeting, I think there is something that you are actually keeping from me that I need to know—tell me all about yourself,” Kaelan said.
“What do you want me to tell you? Because I have no explanation to give to you,” Rory said.
“You have everything to say to me, okay? You were there when Kade came into the office and said something about Westfield. You would rather tell me all you know or you have to get sacked at once,” Kaelan threatened.
“Are you actually being serious right now? What does the coming Westfield actually have to do with my employment? I think you should forget about it and let's just continue working,” Rory said.
“Like I said before, now I'm a man of my words, and I would stop at nothing in getting those truths out from you so you would tell me or get out of my office, or rather, the company,” Kaelan said.
“I know you wouldn't afford to lose another worker. You know the company needs more workers, and you wouldn't afford to lose any,” Rory said.
“Yes, I might not afford to lose any workers, but in your case I would risk it,” Kaelan replied harshly.
“You're being too rude to me with your words, and besides, this has to do with my private life. Why are you so interested in me? I mean, why does it seem like I'm special to you? What exactly do you want from me?” Rory asked.
“You're not as special as others. And you said about private life? This had nothing to do with privacy. I just want to know your true identity, and you are free to go. Why would you even think of hiding it from me for the first time?” Kaelan asked.
“I hide nothing from you; I just kept it to myself, and why would he come out of nowhere to expose a worthless truth about me?” Rory said.
“It might be worthless to you, but it's significant to me. I want you to tell me everything right now,” Kaelan demanded. As she worked tirelessly to prove herself, she couldn't shake the feeling that her carefully constructed facade would soon crumble. “Well if you want to hear the truth, yes I'm Westfield. I only changed the name because of reasons best known to me,” Rory said and was about to leave. “Where do you think you are going?” Kaelan asked.
“You've heard the truth from me, and now I have to go back to my office and get to work,” Rory said.
“Are you being serious right now? After this hug lies about yourself, do you expect me to still keep you in this office? Obviously there is no space for you to leave, and I think it's time you leave the office, and also with the upfront payment to you, you have to refund, Kaelan said.
“I can't make a refund because I have used the money for something important, and if you must know as well, it's for a department, and that is the main reason I'm in this company; I never even wanted to be here,” she said and left.
The tension within her grew, threatening to unleash a storm that would change everything. Meanwhile, Kade Stone, Kaelan's enigmatic brother, seemed to be watching her every move, his piercing gaze making her wonder if he knew more about her than she let on.
As Rory was about to leave through the entrance of the Stone Enterprise, some press journalists came with their cameras and were asking Rory about the new job. As Kade watched her, he knew this might cause an alarm on the news, so he came and took her out. “What are you doing? Let me go.” Rory yelled.
“I can help you get back to the company; likewise, you would help the Stone family get rid of this mess. All I wanted you to do was tell me about what happened,” Kade said.
“What makes you think I would believe you when you are the actual problem to what happened?” Rory said.
“You have to tell me what happened,” Kade said, leaving her in doubt.
