Introduction
“Let me go! Don't you dare pull me out; this is my husband's office!” Astrid tried to fight the security away. “Stop fighting already…” Ana laughed as Logan came up behind her, his arm snaked around her waist, and Astrid watched in bitterness. “Look… Astrid, you were a convenience, and I'm done pretending to have something for you too; this pregnancy trick wouldn't work for me…just go, leave peacefully,” he said, and that was when Astrid realized it: pregnant or not, he would never accept her… Her throat was sore, and she didn't want to fight it anymore, at least for the sake of her dignity. A tear slipped from her eye as she finally broke free from the men. “Fine…since you don't want this marriage anymore, let's divorce!” “What?!” Logan's eyes widened.

Painful memories

Astrid's POV

I unconsciously packed up the papers I just printed, my eyes fixed on the office behind the transparent glass in front of me.

“Stop it…” I heard Anastasia’s cackles, though faintly, but I could still feel the excitement in them. I blinked uncontrollably, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes.

“Astrid, don't do this…” I whispered to myself, trying to look away, but it was just too hard for me. My eyes traveled from Logan, who was busy leaving bite marks on Anastasia's body, to Anastasia, who arched her back, obviously enjoying the feeling she was getting from them.

For a brief moment, my eyes locked with Anastasia, and she gave a wicked smirk. The pleasure in her eyes as she saw me looking at her and my husband enjoying themselves in front of me seemed to make her happy. I managed to look away, but the sharp edge of the papers I was holding brushed against my thumb, and I felt the pain instantly; I looked down to see I was bleeding…

“Oh no…” I sighed as I rushed to get a tissue from my desk.

I still don't understand how I got here. How'd I get here in the first place? I looked at the scene again, and my heart dropped…how exactly did I get here?

**Flashback**

“This is the contract; you have to sign it before we can proceed,” Logan said, and I nodded. I picked up the pen he'd thrown at me earlier and signed the contract.

I sighed sadly as I dropped the contract…

“Good, here's a ring…” He threw the wedding band at me and walked away. His PA picked up the contract and walked behind him.

“My goodness…” I sighed.

**Present**

Life has been messy for me. I used to be the daughter of a multi-millionaire. My dad owned one of the largest restaurants in the state, and there was nothing I wanted that I couldn't get, but overnight, Dad's company went bankrupt, and Mom left us as she couldn't continue the life of misery.

I met Logan when my father was diagnosed with kidney disease and I was too broke to afford his transplant; it was a critical condition. I had several jobs I was working, including at a restaurant where Logan was a patron. He seemed to pick interest in me, and I foolishly fell head over heels in love with him, but then he made it brutally clear to me that he just needs a stand-in wife.

Though I was heartbroken when he happened to not like me back, as he offered to pay for my dad's surgery and also make life comfortable for me, I couldn't say no, and I signed the contract with him. Signing that contract, I thought I could at least make him fall for me in the process as I truly liked him, but he kept me at arm's length. I know I was unprofessional, but there was nothing I could do about it…

A few months after the fake wedding, he slowly began opening up, and I felt we were it, but almost immediately, I found out about his long-time girlfriend, Anastasia. I got to know that he and Anastasia had been dating since they were in high school and even intended to get married, but Ana was a model and couldn't afford to marry at an early age. Logan, who was the heir to his father's conglomerate had to get married on time, and that's why he decided to go with a marriage of convenience while he waits for his girlfriend.

The ringing of the telephone woke me up from my short unpleasant dream, I quickly picked it up.

“Come to the office now!” Logan's cold voice came in, and I quickly picked up the files I was supposed to submit to him earlier, then rushed to his office.

“Why the fuck do you have to make me wait for those papers?” He questioned angrily as he eyed me. The look in his eyes was bitter and only spat hatred.

“I…I…I'm so sorry…” I stammered.

“She's so dumb, where'd you get her from?” Anastasia laughed, giving Logan a look only they both could interpret.

“I tell you, if not for the fact that she was so broke and desperate, we wouldn't be here in the first place.” Anastasia laughed at his degrading comments.

“Get the fuck out of my sight…” Logan ordered, and I bowed. I was about to leave when Anastasia suddenly called me back.

“Get me a cup of iced Americano, please. I want it from the coffee shop in the other building…”

I bit my lower lip hard to hold back my tears and nodded. I walked out of the office with my heart heavy, I was tired of everything… I just want to end all this, but how do I even go about it?

“A cup of iced Americano please…” I said to the guy in the deck.

“Coming right up…” He smiled cheerfully, but I found it hard to even return his smile.

“You don't look great, are you ok?” I nodded mindlessly, but he wasn't convinced at all.

“You can tell me…”

“Just shut up, please.” I snapped rudely, and he shifted away a little before going to get the order from his colleague.

“Here…” I took the cup and walked away without looking back. I know I was rude, but sympathy is the last thing I need right now since it'll bring me nothing but agony.

I went back into the office, closing the door behind me. I saw the two having another episode of romance again. Logan kept kissing her everywhere, and she laughed at the tingling sensation she was getting. I opened the door and walked in.

“What the fuck! Can't you knock?!” Anastasia asked; she was overreacting now.

“Just let her be…” I dropped the coffee and was about to leave, but once again, she stopped me.

“Clean that before leaving.” She pointed at the shredded papers on the floor… I thought I saw her with them earlier, did she just do this to punish me?

I swallowed back and began picking up the shreds.

“Babe, I've got news for you…” Anastasia's excited voice came in, but I knew not to look at them.

“Alright, blow my mind, sweetheart.” I heard them kiss again, and she cackled.

“So I went to my doctor today since I've been feeling quite unwell lately…” she paused.

“And she said I'm pregnant!” Ana screamed happily.

“What?!” My eyes shot up.
